🔥 Who am I Father, wannabe dog owner (no pets allowed in the apartment block!), RAF Veteran and a utter geek when it comes to understanding what makes people tick in the workplace! (I should also mention master trainer, master mentor, accredited coach, licensed DISC & SDI practioner and No1 best selling author of "Leadership 101: Don't be a Dick" too.) 🔥 What I do Working with leaders and managers at all levels, I help them understand what each person they're responsible for in the workplace needs in order for them to want to give you their absolute best. 🔥 Why work with me I’ve been there, seen in, done it, & have several of the t-shirts! I've made the mistakes, had the successes, and learned from both. When I was a Flight Sargent in the RAF, I hated sending my managers on their 2-week Leadership & Management Courses. I'd done them myself, loved them, but never consciously noticed any improvement in my leadership ability. Nor did I see my managers who returned from the training, become any better at leading. I believed they were great courses, but ultimately a waste of time. In 2018 when I hit the darkest time of my own mental health challenges, I finally sought the help I needed. As my health improved, my empathy and curiosity about why people behave the way they do increased. I became obsessed with the psychology of leadership. The vast majority of our lives are spent at work, so what can we do to make the workplace a better place to be? The more I learned about leadership, the more I questioned the impact of the RAF's training. I applied for a role as an instructor on the courses so I could better understand the training. What I found was worldclass training, delivered by worldclass facilitators, in a worldclass manner. I couldn't understand, if the training is so good, why is there so much bad leadership? This intensified my interest in the neuroscience of learning, leadership and how the mind works. I realised the reason leadership training does't produce great leaders, is because it's too general. Humans can't be pigeonholed with general indicators and behaviours. What training can't provide is the context to specific realities, i.e., how to apply the learning to each individual you're responsible for.
