I’m an experienced educator and passionate advocate for reimagining education in ways that are immersive, inclusive, engaging, and truly human-centered. As Head of Curriculum at Salty Sharks, I develop holistic, future-ready learning resources that complement our immersive virtual worlds. In partnership with PBL Futurelabs I create AI-enhanced project-based learning experiences that spark curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world action. We’re proud to support schools, homeschoolers, and micro-schools with flexible, engaging content that meets curriculum outcomes while nurturing empathy, creativity, and global citizenship. Our platform empowers learners to explore topics like marine conservation, STEM, history, human biology and global citizenship through self-directed, gamified challenges, offering an inspiring alternative to traditional education models. I’ve recently developed ocean-themed SEL resources for Salty Sharks that support emotional resilience, mindfulness, and well-being through calming, nature-based activities. The aim is also to help students connect with marine life more so they better understand, value, and want to protect it. We’re currently helping students across Australia, the UK, the US and beyond engage in immersive learning, and have partnered with a growing network of schools, homeschool communities, and global educators who share our vision. I’m originally from Northern Ireland, where I taught for many years and since have taught across multiple states in Australia, a place I now call home. I’m very passionate about social & emotional learning, student voice, and truly believe that education should be as much about well-being and purpose as it is about academic success.
