Hi, I’m Angela – thanks for visiting my profile!

I’m an experienced educator and passionate advocate for reimagining education in ways that are immersive, inclusive, engaging, and truly human-centered.

As Head of Curriculum at Salty Sharks, I develop holistic, future-ready learning resources that complement our immersive virtual worlds. In partnership with PBL Futurelabs I create AI-enhanced project-based learning experiences that spark curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world action.

We’re proud to support schools, homeschoolers, and micro-schools with flexible, engaging content that meets curriculum outcomes while nurturing empathy, creativity, and global citizenship.

Our platform empowers learners to explore topics like marine conservation, STEM, history, human biology and global citizenship through self-directed, gamified challenges, offering an inspiring alternative to traditional education models. 

I’ve recently developed ocean-themed SEL resources for Salty Sharks that support emotional resilience, mindfulness, and well-being through calming, nature-based activities. The aim is also to help students connect with marine life more so they better understand, value, and want to protect it.


We’re currently helping students across Australia, the UK, the US and beyond engage in immersive learning, and have partnered with a growing network of schools, homeschool communities, and global educators who share our vision.


I’m originally from Northern Ireland, where I taught for many years and since have taught across multiple states  in Australia, a place I now call home. 

I’m very passionate about social & emotional learning, student voice, and truly believe that education should be as much about well-being and purpose as it is about academic success.

I’m proud to be a founding member of the Human Intelligence Movement, aligning with their mission to prepare students for an AI-driven future by amplifying the uniquely human skills of empathy, creativity, and collaboration.

One of the most amazing experiences was coming across the amazing Klara Gomboc playing in the town square - Plaza de España, Balcón de Europa in Nerja, Spain. 


She’s such a talented musician, composer and arranger, with her own beautiful style.


I could’ve sat there all day listening to her. Seeing her live was something very special and she played one of my absolute favourites, Ave Maria. 🤩🎻❤️

This new addition really strengthens the narrative heart of the ecosystem, helping students connect not just with ideas, but with the person behind them and that’s what makes it truly meaningful.

Before children can learn, they need to feel safe and calm.


One of the things I really connect with in the Roots & Wings philosophy is the understanding that self-regulation comes before learning.


When a child’s nervous system is in a stress response, their brain is busy managing that stress. It simply isn’t ready to take in new information.


I use some of these simple resets with my students, and it often reminds me that what’s needed first is a moment to pause and support the body.

Sometimes that looks like:

• Take two deep breaths together
• Offer a sip of water or a quick stretch
• Help name the feeling: “You’re frustrated, that’s okay.”

These small resets can help bring the nervous system back into balance and open the door for learning again.

As adults supporting young people, whether we are teachers, parents or carers, our calm matters.

A regulated adult helps create the conditions where children can feel safe, build confidence, and grow. 💫

Because calm comes first.
Then confidence.
Then growth. 🌱
