“Ange, what does your dream life look like?” This innocent question - asked after an exhausting entrepreneurial week - ignited a transformative decision to burn down my life to create professional change. I sold everything I owned, bought a 1-way ticket to a tropical paradise, and sold 3 of my companies. It felt like I had incinerated everything obstructing my dream life in the tropics that I had described after being asked that question. However, I soon realized little had changed aside from my location. I was still addicted to serial entrepreneurship, working 100-hour weeks and feeling utterly exhausted. Instead of building companies for myself, I was now building them for my clients which I loved because it leveraged my genius. Though rewarding, I was burned out. Part of the reason for that was I defined success as this: no boundaries with clients (responding to messages at 2 am), dealing with whatever chaos my clients brought to sessions rather than their business, and believing more hours and more clients equated to more success. There had to be a better way. I wanted to evolve to become a more intentional entrepreneur who also had a life outside business. In my 1-on-1 work, I noticed three things: First, I repeated the same information multiple times a week to different clients. Second, clients felt isolated in their journey, misunderstood by peers, friends, and family, questioning their decision to leave secure jobs to become entrepreneurs. Third, each client had decades of experience and genius that could benefit the entire group. I decided to light a match and burn down my one-on-one offerings, pivoting solely to a boutique group program. The results were unexpected. Clients achieved $125k within a couple of months rather than the usual six. Tasks that used to take clients two years were now completed in just 90 days—from conception to launching their complete business. Clients followed suit of burning down to the simplest iteration possible of their company. Not only did this pivot of approach scale client results, it scaled my income—my hourly earnings 17x'd compared to 1-on-1 work. I now define success as having a simple and effective company that creates predictable outcomes for my clients while enjoying a full life outside business.
