After graduating from university, I decided to start up Angie's Tempeh to tackle the lack of options in the plant based protein industry. I realised that there were many other people out there who experienced the same issue and wanted to solve this problem. I flew to Bogor, Indonesia, to learn how to make tempeh the authentic way from the tempeh masters. Upon returning to Singapore, I set up the business and it quickly grew from a small-scale set up into a commercial factory production. I single-handedly grew the brand to more than a million dollars in sales, and gained a cult-like fan base of tempeh lovers. The brand has been experiencing such high rapid growth that we are currently looking for investors and strategic partners to export the product and take the brand overseas.
