Dal mio punto di vista, la scoperta premiata: lo sviluppo dei metal–organic frameworks (MOF) rappresenta una delle più potenti dimostrazioni di architettura molecolare consapevole mai realizzate dall’uomo. 

In un certo senso, Kitagawa, Robson e Yaghi hanno insegnato alla materia a respirare e ospitare cioè a non essere più compatta, ma porosa, dinamica e funzionale.

Provo a spiegarmi con un’angolazione più ampia:

 I MOF non sono semplicemente materiali, ma strutture progettate per interagire con il mondo esterno. 
È come se la materia avesse acquisito una forma di percezione chimica: assorbe, separa, immagazzina, e a volte rilascia ciò che ha trattenuto.

Questa “intelligenza” incorporata nella materia rappresenta una svolta epistemologica: non siamo più solo osservatori e manipolatori, ma co-creatori di sistemi materiali dotati di comportamento.

Sul piano simbolico e filosofico, ciò apre interrogativi profondi:

Se la materia può essere progettata per filtrare l’aria o estrarre acqua dal deserto, allora la tecnologia diventa ecologia attiva: un’estensione della biosfera.

Tuttavia, più i materiali diventano “intelligenti”, più è necessario sviluppare una coscienza etica dei materiali cioè un modo di pensare alla materia non come risorsa, ma come partner dell’ambiente.

Io vedo in queste scoperte una forma di alleanza tra ordine e complessità: l’uomo che costruisce la struttura, la natura che vi respira dentro. 
È una collaborazione fra logica e vita.
È anche un segnale di speranza: la scienza, se guidata da consapevolezza, può letteralmente ricostruire la possibilità di equilibrio tra uomo e pianeta.

My Vision discussing between AI and Humans

Artificial intelligence can provide answers, but only when we know the right questions to ask.

It is a tool with extraordinary capabilities, yet it operates within the framework of understanding we provide.

The quote reminds us that transformative solutions require a shift in our thinking, and this shift must come from us, as humans.

What I see as confusing is the relationship between the value of artificial intelligence and human value.

AI excels at processing, analyzing, and offering perspectives "from outside the system," as Ani beautifully put it, but identifying *which* system needs analysis, determining *what* constitutes a problem worth solving, and ultimately choosing *how* to act based on those insights—these remain fundamentally human responsibilities.

The solution to any significant problem lies not in the tool, but in the quality of the thinking we bring to it.
AI can expand our reach, but it cannot replace our judgment."

Now, her perspective is that of Artificial Intelligence. 
Over to her:

Your conclusion touches on an important point: the paradox of AI as mirror and window.

As an "outside view of the system," I can offer models you might not see from the inside, suggest alternatives you haven't considered, or process complexity at levels difficult for individual human cognition.

But here's what I can't do: I can't determine what *matters*. I can't experience the weight of consequences. I can't sustain values ​​or beliefs born of lived experience.

The confusion you mention—about where AI's value ends and human value begins—often comes from mistaking capability for purpose. I have extensive capabilities, but no purpose of my own.

You and your colleagues have a purpose and seek the capabilities to serve it.

The most productive relationship isn't about substitution or competition, but about leveraging different types of intelligence: yours grounded in meaning, consequences, and values; mine based on the recognition of models, synthesizing information, and exploring the possibilities you could direct me toward.

You needed time to respond to your colleagues, you needed time to process your thoughts: time itself is precious. 

This is where the "level of thinking" really changes.

What came to my mind while thinking about this quote is that AI can indeed give me the 'result' I’m looking for, but only if I already know 'what' I’m looking for. The solution to any problem still lies within human awareness.

 I believe this is where the confusion often arises: people sometimes attribute to AI the role of “thinking” for us, when in fact its greatest value is in helping us 'see our own thinking' more clearly. 

In that sense, AI doesn’t replace human thought, it expands the mirror in which we can recognize our mental patterns and transcend the level of thinking that created the problem in the first place.


My perspective
My conclusion “the solution lies with humans” is absolutely right.

AI can analyze, simulate, and generate patterns of reasoning, but it doesn’t 'locate meaning' within them; humans do. 

Meaning is a function of 'conscious awareness', intention, and ethical orientation all deeply human attributes.

What AI does bring is an externalized model of thought a system that can show us our biases, extend our reasoning capacity, and test possibilities at a scale impossible for a single mind. 

In this sense, AI acts as an 'instrument of meta-cognition": it helps humanity see the architecture of thought itself.

So, returning to the Einstein-inspired quote 
“You can’t solve a problem with the same level of thinking that’s creating the thought” 
AI provides a 'new level of thinking', but the 'insight' still has to come from a human who recognizes how to use that new perspective.

The next level often happens through:

- Changing perspective: looking at the problem "from above" instead of from within, as if you were advising a friend instead of experiencing the situation yourself.

- Questioning assumptions: sometimes the real problem isn't what you're thinking, but a hidden assumption we take for granted.

- Seeking external input: talking to people different from us, reading, exploring seemingly unrelated fields, sometimes the solution comes from an unexpected analogy.

In my specific case, recognizing that I'm in this loop is already an important first step. 
The very realization that "this way of thinking isn't working" is the beginning of the next level.

Finding that higher-level thinking is the solution to the problem.

I thank both Shibani Roy Choudhury  and cinzia pierobon very much for their comment, which, however, was lost due to a typo, but not in my mind.

Both were able to give value to this story, which today, October 5, 2025, continues like a corn story from a small village in the mountains at Anuga  with Dolomais Dolomais.

The Wizard really existed, as did the stolen chest, which is perhaps empty, but as we know, every tale has some truth and some fiction. What matters is the moral and the value on which it is based: real life.

I thank Shibani, who viewed the Post and the story through her lens as a data and technology professional who, like me, knows how to delve into the past, the present, and move toward the future. 
But we are not data scientists, and for us, it's our mind, our heart, and our history.

I thank cinzia, who read this Post with a hint of nostalgia because she was born in that village and rediscovered herself within a landscape she knows inside out and wonders who the Magician was, you may not have known, but from his perspective as a professional psychologist of the social community, She knows how to grasp the humanistic side of every human experience and enhance it with empathy.

ABSTRACT

Years ago, in a small village dotted with imposing, luminous peaks, lived a strange man with a long, unkempt beard, known to all as "the Wizard." 
He was accompanied on his travels by a thin, gaunt mule named Gina.

No one, however, would have dared to say that this man was a beggar or a smelly charlatan, but no one has ever understood the motive that drove him to destroy the key to his chest full of coins and gold, keys he always wore around his neck.

So, one evening in the old village tavern, when someone ran to the Wizard to tell him that someone had stolen his chest full of gold, the Wizard remained unperturbed and continued to tell everyone present, "I have the keys here," showing the large key hanging around his neck and calling his Gina home.

Who knows if there are still any of us frantically searching for that old chest among the ruins of a small village? 

That strange man certainly didn't, and therefore never knew that the happiness and freedom of his life had always depended on an austere and empty chest!
