Unknown fact about me

I was an extremely silent kid in my early days till I passed 12th grade.

I used to:
→ Hesitate to express myself.
→ Feel nervous while public speaking.
→ In group setting prefer to stay silent. 

My Shyness helps me back in many ways.

I missed out on:

→ Making new relationships.
→ Sharing my ideas to new people.
→ Showcase my skill and talents where needed.

But as I grew older and started business, I realized that I couldn't let my shyness suffer in my business.

So, I started looking for places where i can learn new things related to business and networking.

Luckily, I found BNI through a close friend of mine

I attended their first meeting in Gurugram and saw. 

A Room full of people with 
- Confidence 
- Ready to sell 
- Share experience 
- Helping each other to grow 

And Yes, BNI networking helped to challenge myself:

And I 

→ Started to learn how to talk to strangers.
→ How to pitch in 30 seconds.

It wasn't easy as I need to travel from Noida to Gurugram at 4:30am in morning every Wednesday. 

Because the BNI meeting starts at 7 am sharp.

I felt the fear starting but I did it anyway.

Slowly, I became more confident.

I began embracing skill I learnt over there. 

And now, I'm here on LinkedIn, sharing my journey with you all.

The lesson:

Don’t let your fears and insecurities hold you back.

Get out of comfort zone and take all chances and

See what works for you and your business.

9 things I’d do differently if I had to start selling my web dev. services again.

I was 27-years old when I jumped into this web dev. agency business.

People often say, "You are lucky to get good clients.”

Nope, not even close. 

So, here are 9 things I’d tweak if I could turn back time:

1.

Then: went headfirst into cold calling to get clients.

Now: take the time to understand my propstects better before picking up the phone, go multi-channel. No one wants to get a call from a stranger who dont know them.

2. 

Then: focused on low ticket offers, fearing tickets would be hard to sell.

Now: Ask better questions and discover paid points and their impact on business which engages more stakeholders to have conversation to close high ticket offers.

3. 

Then: relied solely on my personality and communication to close deals.

Now: Be silent and listen more to the client being interested to know what client is looking for.

4.

Then: wasn't transparent when i made mistake.

Now: admit my mistakes and learn from them. As we’re all human, after all.

5. 

Then: didn’t seek out networking events.

Now: Attend more networking event to get leads.

6. 

Then: was not active on LinkedIn to get clients.

Now: Doing outreach using sales nav. To get leads and appointments.

7.

Then: Avoided the number and stats because the gav me a headache 

Now: measure every sucess in terms of client satisfaction and long term relationships. Because good client are hard to find who pay on time!

8.

Then: didn't have a backup plan if the deal fell through.

Now: Most of the time goes into prospecting so my sales piple is always filled with meetings on my calendar.

9. 

Then: Focused on 1 channel to get a meeting.

Now: Now having 3 to 4 channels to get a meeting like cold email, linkedin outreach, referral and Inbound leads.

How did I do that?

Well, the same old stereotypical things - a lot of sleepless nights + hard work.

Also, a few super effective strategies which i am sharing today with you.

1. Didn’t settle with 1 service.

I started my agency doing social media for business.

I was doing good there, but I wanted to do more and earn more.

So, I switched from social media to web development and SEO agency.

Hence, it's super important to find the right skill.

2. Stated working on outreach

As a new agency owner very, few people know me.

So, we started reaching out to people using LinkedIn outreach.

Focused on having a conversation in DMS and bring them call over.

3.Networking the right way.

Started looking for networking events and found BNI.

BNI helped me in learning sales, marketing and how to present yourself.

BNI helped me to build connections with business and get work as well through a referral system.

4. Learned sales: 

One thing I have realized that no matter how good you are at what you do, if you suck at selling your service then it is of no use

So if you want to grow as an agency or freelancer this skill is a must.

Trust me, try to help people. Sale take care of itself

 →Hook visitors with catchy images and videos, and create a narrative that resonates with ICP needs.

4. Craft a clear call to value.
→Tell users why they should click on a button and what they would get in return.
E.g “Tired of not getting leads” & ”I'm ready to get 30 leads in 30 days”

10 things emotionally intelligent people do to create a powerful conversion:

That leads them to 
Create → Trust → Established authority → Sell more

Powerful conversation strikes a balance between talking and listening.

Somewhere along the line, we seem to have lost that balance.

Award winning journalist, conversation expert and author “Celeste Headlee” has 10 Simple rules for bring conversations back into balance:   

1. Don’t Multitask.

You need to do more than just turn off the phone.

It involves being fully present in that moment.

You can either fully listen to the person or leave the conversation.

2. Don’t preach.

Conversations aren’t blogs or LinkedIn posts where you state your opinion without comments from others.

The best way to listen to someone is to set yourself aside and listen as if they know something you don't.

3. Use Open-Ended questions.

Start your question with:

Who
Why
What
When
Where
Or How

If you ask, “Is your website traffic is going down?” You will receive one word Answer.

If you ask, "Why is your website traffic going down?" you will get a thoughtful, meaningful answer.

4. Go with the Flow.

There will be thoughts that pop into your head; You job is to let them go.

Don’t say anything till you feel it right time to say” just wait for the right time”

5. If you don’t know. Say it.

This principal is straightforward.

In Sales, being careful talking about things you’re not an expert at.

Pretend you’ll be on the record and held accountable.

So, don’t make things up.

6. Don’t equate your experience with theirs.

If they talk about losing a loved one, 
don't talk about when your mom died.

It is not always about you, 
so, avoid bringing the conversation back to you.

7. Don't repeat yourself.

Repetition is boring.

People usually do this when they have a point to make,
And they say it repeatedly

Don't do that.

8. Stay out of the weeds.

People don’t care about years, names, dates and time you struggle to remember.

They care about you, what you’re like, what you have in common, and how you feel, not every minor detail.

Leave them out.

9. Listen

Listening is the number 1 skill you can learn.

But listing is hard.

We would rather talk.

Talking is easy: we’re in control and be the center of attention.

It takes effort to pay attention and listen to someone.

But if you’re not, then you’re not having a conversation.

10. Be interested 

Be interested in others.

Keep your mouth shut as often as you can & keep your mind open as much as you can.

When you talk to someone, be prepared to be amazed.

They have something unique, strange, or fun about them; allow them to share it with you.

→ You can see 100 videos on “how to generate leads.”
→ You can attend many seminars on “How to lead gen through website.”
