Just because you don't know a lot about finance doesn't make you stupid. It also doesn't mean that you should be talked down to, or dismissed. A client once told me, "When I first started working after college, and wanted to invest in my 401k, the advisor would barely take any time with me because I was in debt, and didn't have a ton of money to invest. I've avoided financial advisors ever since." Let me be the first to tell you in case someone else hasn't, that you are not dumb, uneducated, or lazy if you aren't super savvy in the finance department. I have been there! I'm sure most of us have been there at one time or another if we are really being honest. The fact is, the majority of Americans know little, if anything about investing or personal finance. (Which leads people to avoid financial planning, or resist reaching out to talk to someone about it.) Personal finance & investing can be a confusing subject. But guess what? It doesn't have to be! I mean it when I say I give financial advice "without the snooze." We aren't going to sit and chat about statistics, and high level BS that you really don't care about.
