And this hack is taking off.

Every time I log into LinkedIn, I see these creators on my feed. (Hello Ken Cheng and Renée Shaw) 

And every. single. time.
I read their posts all the way to the end.

Even when I know I’m reading nonsense.
Even when it’s a fictional story.
Even when it’s clearly just vibes.

So I asked myself:
Why do I feel hooked?
Why do I always finish reading?
Why do I feel emotionally connected to something so random?
And why do I check their company pages right after?

The secret behind absurd storytelling

I have a very unusual hobby... 

Sometimes, I give a bit of unsolicited marketing advice to companies that send me newsletters.

(So if you think nobody reads your newsletter, I do. And I analyze it from the perspective of what works and what doesn’t.) 

Why do I do it? I get to exercise my content muscles and help products I actually find interesting.

Yesterday, I got one that said:

“We’re building something big, and it’ll be pure AI!”

It’s 2025, and we’re still using “pure AI” as if it’s a magic word from 2022? Like, is this supposed to be enticing? 

Today, the narrative has shifted.

People don’t want “AI-only.” They want AI that empowers humans.

Even Anthropic — one of the most advanced AI companies — recently opened a coffee pop-up to connect with people face-to-face. That says a lot about where the real value lies: human connection.

As a content marketer, I use plenty of AI tools daily. They help — with subtitles, transitions, ideation — but none have replaced me.

Every piece still needs my judgment, my tone, my storytelling sense, my vision.

(You can’t imagine how many times I picked up yet another AI video-editing tool just to go back to CapCut to do things manually. 🤫)

AI supports me, but it doesn’t get me.

So, if you’re building or marketing an AI product, here’s my unsolicited advice:

👉 Stop promising “pure AI.”

Start showing how your product actually makes people’s work better, easier, or more meaningful.

That’s the story worth telling in 2025.
