In 2nd grade, my teacher put my desk outside in the hallway because I talked too much. She always told my parents I would make better grades if I talked less. I was an all-A student! Through high school, I was in the National Honor Society and continued making fantastic grades. That teacher's words never left my mind even as I walked the stage with two bachelor degrees to receive my MBA. As an adult, I have found that nothing makes me happier than meeting new people, creating new relationships, solving problems, and contributing to the growth of my team and company. I am so thankful I didn't listen to that teacher and hide my abilities to communicate, network, ask for help and use my voice. My networking has gotten us to so many places in life and presented us with so many opportunities. I now realize my voice is not a problem at all! I have used it speaking at travel shows, hunting for volunteers, running and creating fundraising events, when actively participating in community clubs, and starting a new volunteer project. My voice has given me the strength to stand out and not be scared to try new things.
