I grew up in Paris, France. After my parents divorced I lived with my father and I grew up feeling that I never received the love or affection I craved from my mother, which meant my childhood was marked by emotional hurt. I took flying lessons and learned to fly a small plane... before I could drive! It felt amazing! Every time I took off into the sky I felt truly free, as though I left all my worries behind on the ground. Of course, those worries would still be there waiting for me again when I landed. I discovered the early Eighties club scene and the drug of choice at the time, which was heroin. When I first snorted the heroin, it was amazing! I stopped feeling, the pain simply went away. I do not suggest this is an answer! That way of coping simply wasn't sustainable, and soon I found myself in rehab, which meant moving to England as there were no facilities like that in my own country. I then succeeded in obtaining my commercial pilot's license and got my first job with an airline in the UK. This was the start of a career that spanned almost thirty years. In a routine pilot's medical examination, a scan revealed a blockage in my heart, which would require an aortic valve replacement, and that meant my licence to fly was immediately revoked. I would never be allowed to fly again. I cannot tell you how hard that news knocked me down. I hit rock bottom. Not only my career and my income, but also my identity. Both were all snatched away from me in an instant. I knew intuitively that ultimately my healing was down to me, and the quacks could not help. I had to heal my heart, not only physically, but emotionally as well! I did the HeartMath course, and the course delivered! After I did that work, only then I really did feel free. By communicating with my heart, I discovered my true self and a totally new way of choosing. I got to choose freely how I wanted to be, no longer a victim of others, no longer having to wear any mask. I realised that of course I couldn't find true freedom through anything external. The only way I could find the path to real freedom was by going into my own heart, by reconnecting, and by choosing to let go of my pain. I realised I did have the power within me to get over my own disabling emotions and discover true freedom, it felt so amazing that I knew this was something I had to share with other people.
