He solved the impossible.

By accident.

George Dantzig walked into his Berkeley statistics class late.
Missed the professor's introduction.
Saw two problems written on the blackboard.

Assumed they were homework.

They looked harder than usual.
But homework is homework.
So he worked through them.
Took him a few days longer than normal.

Turned them in.

Six weeks later, his professor showed up at his door.
Slightly out of breath.
Papers in hand.

"George, do you know what you've done?"

Those weren't homework.
They were unsolved problems.

Audience Engagement at Bloomberg Law

I hosted the most “boring” party of the year last night at my home and it was actually great. 

(Shoutout to the recent WSJ article for popularizing “admin nights”) 

Instead of tackling our list of tasks we’d been putting off alone, a few friends came over to be productive together. 

David Wardrick said it felt just like being in college 🙃 Snacks, pomodoro timers (30 minutes on, 10 minutes to chat), and comfy clothes. 

I was impressed by how quickly I checked off some of my tasks. Many of them had been taking up a lot of space in my brain for a while 😞

My wins:
• Increased credit card spending limits across all cards 
• Downgraded a credit card I wasn’t using (goodbye annual fee!)
• Researched new camping backpacks
• Cleaned up my Gmail and Google Drive (because I’m running out of storage) 
• Started an Excel sheet of all my physicians + last/next appointment dates
• Updated my company commuter benefits (I couldn’t remember my username OR password so had been putting this one off for over a year) 

Some friend wins:
• Finally replied to text that needed delicate and precise wording (a great group workshopping moment) 
• Created multiple LLCs (several people with existing LLCs helped out) 
• Completed paperwork that required witnesses 
• Researched Roth IRA options (and the potential to use the money for house down payment) 
• Figured out how to spend down extra FSA dollars for the year 
• Updated resumes + cover letters
• Booked medical appointments (and even a tax accountant!)
• Started a passport application (new Canadian citizen - a surprise fact revealed that night!) 
• Reconnected with friends they hadn’t talked to in a while

The biggest surprise and delight for me? How fast my list started shrinking.

Highly recommend hosting your own admin night! It turned boring tasks into a genuinely fun and collaborative evening.

I've seen some of the weirdest trends on LinkedIn in the past 6 months. 

1. 99% of the comments we see are fully AI. Zero time or effort spent on them. You don't know if you're talking to a person or not. 

2. Organic reach has dropped by over 40-50% for many. Same content, same strategies, but reach is down significantly. 

3. Engagement hacks that work on Instagram are on LinkedIn now. Comment for "X". I'll give you "Y". The feeling has changed too. 

4. Gurus now everywhere. The ones who sell "growth" but been active for less than 3 months... Teaching but haven't been taught themselves. 

I could go on and on about things that changed. 

My DMs and feed are FILLED with creators and brands complaining about these things. 

But the reality is, this is LinkedIn now. 

So there are two options we can make:

1. Cry about the changes and low engagement. 
2. Learn to adapt and make changes accordingly. 

I like option two a LOT more. 

Make changes to your business or fall behind. 

Very simple.

Buckle up because everything is about to change.  Ads are coming to ChatGPT, and early traces in the Android beta make it pretty clear. A few things to keep in mind:

	•	The ad system is already showing up in the code including a “search ads carousel.” This is happening soon. 

	•	Expect ads to appear inside answers, not off to the side. Read that again. INSIDE the answers as if it’s just part of the conversation. It reminds me of that line from Jurassic Park “Clever girl…..”

	•	Free users will likely see them first; paid tiers might stay cleaner (at least early on). Don’t expect that to last long. 

	•	Targeting could get deeply personal if it taps into chat history or memory. DEEPLY personal. People are having existential life conversation with Chat GPT, imagine what it will suggest for you to buy. *shudder* 

	•	Once sponsored content enters responses, organic visibility in AI gets much tougher for brands. Organic? Paid? Both? Neither? 

This time next year we will all look back on these days as the good ol’ days. We’re in for a crazy ride.

TRUTH: Khadija Kalifa says it perfectly: Follow up consistently because most sales happen after the 5th–7th follow-up! 1. Build genuine relationships
People buy from people they like and trust. Hence me creating The Global Partnership !  

2. Ask powerful questions
The one asking the questions controls the conversation.

3. Listen more than you speak
The best closers are the best listeners - I can tell a new sales person a mile off - they don’t shut up. 

4. Understand their pain points
Solve the right problem and the sale becomes easy. 

5. Sell outcomes, not features
People want results, not long explanations - stop waffling about what you think is cool and tell them how you’re making their life better. 

6. Follow up consistently
Most sales happen after the 5th–7th follow-up! 

7. Show value before price
When value is clear, price becomes secondary.

8. Create urgency but ethically
Deadlines and bonuses work when used with integrity - cringey only 2 places left to an online course that has no limit are so obvious and insulting to true sales people like me! 

9. Use social proof
Testimonials reduce perceived risk instantly.

10. Ask for the sale - just close it!
Confidence closes. Hesitation doesn’t. So many people say they’re not getting sales but the reality is they don’t know how to close!

1. Don’t talk too much
Over-explaining kills conversion.

2. Don’t try to sell to everyone
Qualify properly - not all customers are your customers.

3. Don’t ignore objections
Address them early and honestly.

4. Don’t compete on price
Lead with value, not discounts.

5. Don’t make assumptions
Ask - don’t guess.

6. Don’t avoid follow-up
Money is made in the follow-up.

7. Don’t be pushy or desperate
Confidence attracts. Desperation repels.

8. Don’t overpromise
Underpromise and overdeliver…every time damn time.

9. Don’t neglect existing customers
Retention is easier (and cheaper!) than acquisition.

10. Don’t stop at “no”
“No” often means “not now.” Follow up when the time is right.

ChatGPT Ads are coming in 2026. And they won’t look anything like Google Ads... 👇

Sam Altman just confirmed it: ChatGPT is starting to test ads, but not the traditional "search + sponsored link" model we’ve all optimized against for 20+ years.

Google monetizes from search gaps; the moments when you can’t find the answer organically and end up clicking an ad instead.

ChatGPT will monetize when it gets the answer right.

Here’s everything we know so far:
   1. Rollout: Closed beta in 2025 → scaled launch for free users in 2026.
   2. Pricing: Performance-based. Clicks or actions, not impressions.
   3. Where ads appear: Inside the chat, blended into answers. No pop-ups. No
        sidebars. No banners.
   4. Personalization: Hyper-targeted using chat context, session data and
        memory (when the user enables it)
   5. User control: Turn off memory → reduce or block personalization.
   6. Targeting logic: Semantic intent matching, not keyword bidding.
   7. Formats: Sponsored messages, promoted GPTs, embedded action buttons,
       and other native response-level placements.
   8. Attribution: Session tokens + conversion APIs. No cookies. No display-style
        tracking.

For brands and marketers, this marks the shift we’ve been anticipating. 2026 is when AI transitions from workflow tech to a primary media channel.

If consumers start asking ChatGPT for answers instead of Googling, then being "discoverable" inside ChatGPT becomes far more important than ranking on Google...

Steven Lefkoff shares a time when speaking up to a judge won him the case! What’s a time you’ve spoken up that raised eyebrows but your bravery was rewarded???

A few weeks ago I did something I have never done. I interrupted a judge while she was announcing her decision at trial. What I did won the case.

I was representing a buy-here-pay-here car dealer client. This dealer does everything right and has the five-star reviews to back it up. But all the five-star reviews in the world wouldn't have stopped one particular customer from filing and pursuing a lawsuit against the dealer.

After a 4-hour trial, the Judge announced her decision in open court: "Because the dealership issued an incorrect post-repossession notice, I am granting judgment in favor of the customer."

I was shocked and stood up while she was talking. 

"Respectfully, your honor, you are misinterpreting the law."

She responded, "Mr. Lefkoff, my recollection of that law is that if you do not include this language in the notice, you lose the case."

She was wrong, and I knew she was wrong because at Lefkoff Law, LLC we have more experience in motor vehicle, lien holder, repossession, and post-repossession cases than just about any other law firm in #Georgia. And the laws in this area are peculiar. 

I was able to quickly cite to the correct law and even provide case citations from memory that supported my position.

She responded, "Mr. Lefkoff - I hear what you are saying and have decided not to issue an order today. I am going to review the law and cases you cited and issue an order in a few weeks."

The order came yesterday. Judgment in favor of my client. We won.

Many judges would never have let me do what I did. They would have said something like, "Counsel, I have made my decision. Your client can appeal if it would like to." But this judge didn't do that. 

Credit goes to the judge who allowed me to make my point and then actually take the time to consider what I had to say. 

I had the guts to argue with a judge at the time she was rendering her opinion but I really only had the confidence to do so because I knew the law. And it worked.

The real winner was not me or my firm. The real winner was my fantastic client.

When hiring an attorney, make sure you find someone that knows the law on the issues you are facing. It matters.
