Missouri State University

As a blindness skills specialist, I provide services that are available at no cost to assist area Missouri school districts in providing quality services to students with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities. I am dually certified in education of students with visual impairments and orientation and mobility. Services available include professional development opportunities for parents, teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators and other interested parties.  In addition, the BSS can assist districts in locating sources for direct instructional services for their students with VI; provide assessments in orientation and mobility, learning media assessment, functional vision, and braille skills; assist in implementation of the expanded core curriculum, and serve as consultant to IEP teams.

I am one of three blindness skills specialists in the state.  My region covers the Kansas City Metro region, down to Warrensburg, and over to Columbia.  If your school district is within that area and you have program needs for your students with visual impairments, I would love to hear from you.
