What are some examples of systems to achieve goals?

I moved to Bangalore alone 6 months back.

When I: 

- Didn't know where I would go
- Had no friends or relatives in the city
- Not much savings in my bank account

But, I had:

- Faith in my actions
- Hope that everything will align in my direction

It was a risk. A huge risk. Moving to a big city for a girl from a tier 3 city wasn’t easy.

But I did.

Here are 11 harsh lessons I’ve learned in my 6 months journey.

1. No matter what you want, you need to initiate action FIRST in that direction. Reach out, talk, text, and follow up. IT ALL BEGINS WITH YOU!

2. Your inner world reflects your outer world. When you change yourself internally things around you start shifting.

3. You’ll keep losing people in your life especially when you’re stubbornly aligned with your goals

4. Life will give you the same problems in front of you if you don’t deal with them in the first place.

5. Life is uncertain. You never know what you’d lose and what you’d gain at any moment.

6. Faith is the most powerful thing. It can change the entire trajectory of your life

7. You’re valued only if you bring value to the table

8. You can’t compete with others. Your only competition is you.

9. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself to take of others

10. It scares the hell out of you when you fail once and think about giving it a try again.

But, doing it is the best decision you can take. It can open up unimaginable opportunities for you.

11. Just showing up each day, no matter how messy, distracted, or uncomfortable you feel can change the game.

I got the perspective that I had never thought of before. 

Honestly, managing time was my biggest fear and challenge for a long time. 

But this mindset shift has been a true game changer. Here’s what I’ve learned:

📌 A brand is built with your personality

I understood why Ankur Warikoo as a brand is so successful because you can connect with him on a personal level. He acts as a mentor who cares about you,  trusts you, and wants to see you succeed.

Something we all want!

📌 It’s not about what you have, It’s about how you spend what you have

He talks about the concept of ”urgent important matrix” in a very subtle manner. 

The fact that I liked the most was not only did he give importance to “Urgent and Important tasks” but, he deliberately added the tasks that are “not urgent and not important." 

Why??

BECAUSE we all are humans, and sometimes we want to do those stupid things that don’t make sense. 

📌 Energy > Time 

It’s not about how much time we have but it’s about the energy. Every thought or action we take either increases our energy level or decreases it. 

He mentioned the physical, emotional mental, and spiritual aspects of time management. 

Spiritual aspects like self-worth, self control, self-talk, compassion, empathy affects our energy levels and how we spend our time is what stood out to me. 

📌 Monetization of time

Thinking of time in terms of money helps us understand the importance of it. Like, If we categorize and calculate it in that manner we can realize how effective use of time we can make.

How can I increase my energy levels to better manage my time?

My focus is never Impressions, comments, and followers…

What I want is my content: 

- To make them feel 
  someone understands them
- To teach them something
- To hit the cord with them…

Here's what I do to make sure I do that 

📌 Ask questions 

I feel asking questions is the best way to get to know the other person 

- Their wants
- Their desires
- Their desires

I reach out, get on a call, and ask questions.

📌 Listen 

I listen to them intently. Note down their response, the way they speak, their ideas values, vision, and everything I possibly can. 

📌 Speak their language 

I try to incorporate their language into the content I create to make it relatable and relevant 

I weave their language, their unique way of expressing themselves, into the content. It becomes a conversation, not a lecture.

📌 Share stories

Sharing stories that connect, and tell the essence of what I am doing and why.

This is what makes them connect with me more.

📌 Engage 

Content is just one part. Another way is engagement and interactions with them one-on-one daily that makes the bond stronger, helps me build everlasting relationships,

I quit my full-time job in Feb 2024 without a “Plan B!”

Yes! And I’m awestruck with this realization….

This was the job I used to love, admire, and put my heart and soul into.

I was so passionate about writing and no matter what came my way, I used to take it happily and give my best to deliver it. 

Whether it was writing: 

→  Ad copy 

→  Landing page copy 

→  Instagram copy 

→  LinkedIn post 

After some point, I just felt like I was all over the place and there’s nothing specific that I was doing…

That’s when I started thinking seriously.

I knew it was not something I wanted to do in the long run, being all over the place and not being an expert at one thing. 

That’s when I decided to shift my focus.

I have always been interested in writing LinkedIn content. I have been writing on LinkedIn for 2 years and I know the nitty-gritty of it. 

So I, 

↳ Upskilled myself 

↳ Reflected on my skills

↳ Analyzed my strengths and weakness 

↳ Optimized my profile and revamped my content strategy 

Those two months were horrible. 

It was difficult to get clients who’d pay me for my services. But due to my strong network and LinkedIn community 

✨  I found awesome clients

✨ Got excellent job opportunities 

✨ Found my niche and my area of focus

✨  I collaborated with amazing creators who are doing what I want to do 

It was tough and challenging. 

But it opened my eyes to what I am truly meant to do. 

Here’s my realization: You need to lose Big to gain Big.

Sara Blakely just had $5k in her savings and an idea when she quit her job to become an Entrepreneur.

Today, Spanx’s net revenue is $1.2 Billion.

Sara’s entrepreneurial spirit sparked in childhood when she used to set up a haunted house and charged admission to the neighborhood children at the Halloween parties.

Sarah admires her father’s tradition of discussing failures at the dinner table and appreciating the efforts made to overcome them. 

➤ 1. The Origin Story

Initially, she planned to become an attorney like her father after graduation.

She studied hard but failed to qualify for the LSAT( Law School Admission Test) 

➤ 2. The Breakout

Sara did not give up though. She decided to show up for the exam again while moonlighting at comedy clubs.

Unfortunately, she scored one point lower than she did in the first trial. 

Her dream of following her father's path shattered. 

➤ 3. The Downfall

Then, Sarah went to Disney World and auditioned for the part of Goofy. They said, “ You’re too tall to play the character.” 

Instead, she was offered to play the role of Chipmunk which she refused to play. 

After law school rejection and a Goofy-sized Disney fail, Sara was burnt out, lost, and back home with Mom.

She ended up at Danka, a quirky office equipment company that hired "anyone with a pulse.”

➤ 4. The Opportunity

Her managers put Sara on the road to sell fax machines with no leads, no contact numbers, and no sales list. During such a challenging situation, Sara discovered:

1. Her knack for selling and the desire to create something of her own 

2. Never letting rejections let her down

➤ 5. The Idea

One night while getting ready for the party, she found lines on her hose running across her toes.

She got creative and cut the feet off the bottom of her pantyhose and wore the top as a replacement for underwear beneath her white pants.

That's where the idea of designing underwear was born! 

➤ 6. The Execution 

Sara decided to continue working on her ideas as a side hustle while working at Danka to pay the bills.

Sara sat up nights, stuffing Spanx into white envelopes and mailing them off, created her new company's legal structure herself, and bought the Spanx trademark for $150. 

➤7. The Success 

In 1999, Sara’s company pulled in $4,000,000. Oprah named Spanx her favorite product of the year and Spanx earned $10,000,000 in revenue with her backing.

The next year, Sara appeared on QVC, a television shopping network, where she sold more than 8,000 units in less than six minutes. 

Just over ten years later, Sara became a billionaire! 

Building a brand that serves millions requires grit, courage, and an unstoppable attitude.

How important is grit in building a successful brand?

How can discussing failures help in overcoming them?

“Don’t you  think AI  will  replace you?”

100’s of people have asked me this question.  And my answer is “No” 

I DO NOT THINK THAT AI WILL replace me. 

Here’s why: 

1. Content generated by AI is not 100% accurate. Relying on it is a complete stupidity.  

2. There’s tons of Research, Personalization and Thought process goes behind writing content that AI can’t take over.

3. Humans connect with humans better, and not the AI. AI can’t elaborate the real life experiences, stories, moments and memories because it hasn’t felt it. 

4. AI doesn’t give fresh data, ideas, it doesn’t have its own thought process. 

It is just programmed to produce output based on instructions.

5. AI doesn’t have emotional intelligence that should be reflected in the content.

AI is definitely helpful. It saves time. 

I consider it a vehicle. Just like a car would help you reach from point A to point B faster, AI helps to ease our lives.

Writing Good Hooks is NOT enough…

Yes. Why? 

Because if your body content is crap, then writing a good hook is just like giving clickbait. 

Don't focus only on the hook, LinkedIn content is not just about that.

It's about: 

- What you say
- How you present it
- What value do you bring to the table

Here's what you can do instead…

1. Identify the problems and turn them into solutions 

2. Use simple frameworks like PAS  (Pain-agitate-solution) and AIDA (Attention-Interest- Desire-Action) 
to ensure you’re on point

3. Use bullet points, lines, and arrows to articulate your thoughts 

4. Write keeping in mind your audience as the hero 

5. Use easy language and maintain a conversational tone

Johnson & Johnson was about to Lose its Reputation as a brand, after the Tylenol tempering incident in 1982. 

Tylenol was a child company of Johnson & Johnson.

Someone messed up with Tylenol bottles and filled the capsules with Cyanide (a deadly poison) causing seven people to die in Chicago.

The news spread like wildfire. Everybody was shaken with fear and grief. 

People were afraid to take any medicine, not just Tylenol from Johnson & Johnson. 

Their reputation, built on trust and safety, was hanging by a thread. 

Before this crisis, Tylenol had: 

👉  Over 100 million users in the United States.

👉 37% market share in the painkiller industry.

👉 Contributed to 19% of Johnson & Johnson's corporate profits during the first 3 quarters of 1982.

👉 Increased J&J year-to-year company profit and sales growth to 33%.

Let's see how Johnson & Johnson handled this nightmare and became 
an “Industry leader” in crisis management.

➤  Sympathy Strategy 

It involved seeking forgiveness and acceptance from the public. 

It helped Johnson & Johnson to win support from the public as they were able to portray themselves as the unfair victim. 

➤  Remediation 

Johnson & Johnson offered monetary help to the victims. They provided counseling and financial assistance to the victim’s families even though they were not responsible for the product tampering.

It helped them to lessen the offense from the public as the media showed them taking positive actions to help victim’s families.

➤  Rectification

It was all about taking precautions to ensure the same crisis never happened again. 

Johnson & Johnson created a new triple safety seal packaging- a glued box, a plastic seal over the neck of the bottle, and a foil seal over the mouth of the bottle as part of rectification. 

They also developed new random inspection procedures before the shipment of Tylenol to retailers.

⏩ Today, Johnson & Johnson has completely recovered its market share lost during the crisis. 

The company has been able to reestablish the Tylenol brand name as one of the most trusted consumer products in America. 

What I’ve learned from this experience is: 
“ It’s not about what happens to you, but how you deal with it.”  

“Crises” are a part of business. It can be financial, technological, or organizational. But, should we get shackled with it? No. 

It can’t belittle your customer’s trust in you when you’re relentlessly dedicated to serving them.
