Over the last 6 years I’ve gone from Trust and Safety associate to Technical Program Manager - an almost unheard of transition. I started with 0 technical skills or background. In fact, in college I studied liberal arts and philosophy. I became a TPM by doing the work. I learned how the tech works and actually delivered complex initiatives. That is, the projects I helped deliver immensely improved Lyft’s bottom line. But, TPMing isn’t all the straightforward. It took me years to understand the role and develop the skillset. I don’t think it should be as hard as it is. That why I want to demystify TPMing and teach the skillset to the masses.
