EHS & Process Safety Lead

Reliability Lead for the Worthing site. Supporting the tablet packaging and tablet manufacturing production areas with the following: 

• Led data-driven decision making in tablet packaging and manufacturing, using MS Forms & PowerBI to create daily insights for prioritising key areas to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and availability, driving organisational success. 

• I established performance management meetings with key operational stakeholders designed to monitor and address issues, as well as drive improvements in OEE and equipment availability. 

• Created the overall Site Reliability Program which covers; packaging line improvement plans, OEM vendor support for critical equipment, critical spares management, maintenance management & schedule adherence, and promoting the overall reliability culture on site. 

• Line management - effectively managed and motivated a team of professionals, providing guidance and coaching to drive performance and ensure the successful delivery of tasks & projects.

• Managed equipment validation, change control, commissioning, and capital projects to achieve operational improvements that increased OEE, reliability, and output. Supported the organisation's culture of continuous improvement.

• Established a culture of governance within the operational and technical engineering team, leading sessions with stakeholders to prioritise actions, review and implement corrective tickets, troubleshoot equipment downtime, and improve OEE and equipment availability.

• Hosted senior company personnel on site, delivering engaging presentations that effectively communicated both positive and challenging aspects of the organisation. Presented professionally and articulated key information ,leaving a positive impression of the site.

• Actively participated in Reliability Community of Practice (CoP).

Reliability Lead

•	Lead on project to utilise the BowtieXP software to provide a means for visualising a site’s live process safety status. Impact on 5 primary manufacturing facilities (UK and Singapore). 

•	Lead for MAH and PHR assessments for multiple filter, wash and vacuum drying processes for a primary manufacturing facility.

Regional Process & Machinery Safety Engineer 

I was responsible for the management and delivery of £3.7 million capital expenditure, in line with CDM 2015, of the following projects: 

•	HVAC System Upgrades
•	Chiller System Upgrade 
•	Waste Water Collection System 
•	Softened Water Storage System 
•	Suspension Vessels for use in GMP environment

•	Produced cost estimates, URBs, project proposals for senior stakeholder support and approval. 

•	Produced various technical documentation including, but not limited to, Pre-construction packs, safety assessments, P&ID development, electrical and civils reviews. 

•	Scribed for HAZOP studies. 

•	Review of process flow calculations. 

•	Supporting component criticality assessments, validation, and effective change management implementation. 

•	Planning application process with local authorities. 

•	Risk management.

•	Contractor management, review of contractor WAO and proposed scopes of work. 

•	Internal and external stakeholder management. 

•	I drove the culture within GSK through chairing weekly calls with a team of 50+ (GSK and non-GSK staff). 

•	Responsible for PCCE of the Oral Solid Dose value stream; identifying next steps following an FMEA, addressing top risks with identified action owners and driving action completion. Created a means for tracking progress of actions, standardising the site FMEA template for ease of use and access. 

•	Provided mentorship to 2x industrial placement students.

Project Manager - Capital Projects

•	Process engineer for a clavulanate extraction and solvent recovery facility in Irvine (UK).

•	Evaluated total site VOC emissions to support renewal of its PPC permit. Identified opportunities for emissions abatement to support the site’s continuous improvement effort. 

•	Improved robustness of plant through process automation. Identified elements of automation sequences to improve logic for the prevention of process deviations. 

•	Created commissioning test plans for the installation of 47 level switches across 30 vessels. Addressing the LOC (Loss of Containment) and PCCE (Physical Contamination Cause Elimination) risk. 

•	Team member for PHIRA study completed on site solvent recovery plant (distillation columns, reboilers, condensers, tank farm). 

•	FMEA study team member. 

•	P&ID review and as built plant walk down for new distillation column. 

•	Provided mentorship to industrial placement students.

•	Organized and Led GSK's involvement in Frank Morton 2020 (a national chemical engineering student engagement event).

Process Engineer - Clavulanate VS Technical Team 

Project engineering intern for the GSK Worthing ABS project.  

•	Project engineer for a £144 million sterile manufacturing facility in Worthing (UK). 

•	Produced commissioning protocols to bring live solvents and nitrogen to the facility. 

•	Reviewed P&ID’s, conducted plant walk downs, liaised with cross functional teams to produce a safe commissioning plan with particular focus on the asphyxiation risks of N2 and inherent risks of the solvents involved.

Project Engineer

Process Engineer supporting bulk sterile manufacture of Augmentin at the GSK Worthing facility. I delivered the following: 

•	Ensured manufacturing plant compliance with global engineering standards through Process Safety, Open-Ends Project, managing change, plant walks, P&ID markups and third-party contractor liason.

•	EHS Nitrogen Asphyxiation Project: Managed communication between process safety and EHS experts to mitigate nitrogen asphyxiation risks on site. 

•	Decommissioned redundant production stream, with effective change management, cross-functional communication. stakeholder management, P&ID markups, and plant walk downs for scope confirmations. 

•	Designed and developed a sterile manufacturing tool, managing change processes, capital projects, and collaborating with third-party contractors for technical and procedural updates, testing, and commissioning. 

•	 Supported technical investigations to resolve batch release restrictions, utilising Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools and multidisciplinary team communication to develop key engineering competencies and communication skills. Led and supported the resolution of a critical investigation resulting in a cost-saving of ~£4 million.

I have a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, and I am actively working towards chartered chemical engineer status through the various roles I have undertaken. I have a demonstrated history of working within the GMP Pharmaceutical space, particularly Primary, Secondary and Sterile manufacturing sites. I am a highly ambitious individual with a real passion for understanding and problem solving.
