- In collaboration with the Medical Industry Leadership Institute (MILI), conducted US market valuation analysis for an early-stage oncology start-up in the Start Codon portfolio.

- Part of a hybrid interdisciplinary UK/US team, leveraged both the Cambridge life sciences ecosystem and MILI global connections to augment our research with contemporary insights from industry leaders.

- Member of the award-winning 2023 Cambridge iGEM team, see the video attached below for a snapshot into our project.

- Being a student-led effort, gained valuable experience in project ownership and in driving a project from inception towards a defined objective as part of a team.

- Key logistical challenges included securing funding + lab space with adequate risk assessment coverage and keeping stakeholders/advisors informed of project progression on a weekly basis; we would like to thank our sponsors and advisory academics for their support that helped us to the Gold Medal!

- Individually sourced and negotiated a generous £1,360 in-kind sponsorship from New England Biolabs; generated £2,500+ worth of sponsorship overall.

Cambridge iGEM

University of Warwick - Department of Chemistry

- Intern at Chemical Biology Research Facility under Challis Group.

- Investigating protein-protein interactions in a hybrid modular PKS-NRPS assembly line, producing clinically valuable HDAC-inhibitor products, through creation of 30 ACP and C domain site-specific mutants.

- Overarching theme to this work is understanding docking domain interactions in bicyclic depsipeptide PKS-NRPS biosynthesis towards engineering a greater chemical diversity for natural product discovery; novel analogues could offer therapeutic potential in the treatment of T cell lymphomas as histone deacetylase inhibitors.

- Through literature mining and in silico bioinformatic analyses, investigated the role of retrograde signalling molecules in the diversionary evolution of red algal genomes.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge

- 9 day campaign holding telephone conversations with fascinating and diverse alumni overseas.

- Raised £4,428 for the Caius Fund through the 8 days of calling and honed my interpersonal skills during the 1 day training period.

- Learned about alumni relations, running a successful fundraising campaign from start to finish and grew confidence in an exciting, sociable work atmosphere.

Shadowed following labs: 
- Frampton/Krell group, investigating molecular oncogenetics, in particular DICER knockouts as well as the effects of APR-283 to overcome platinum resistance in Hepatic tumours.
- Cunnea Group, focussing on Epithelial Ovarian Cancer, in particular the effects of OPCML on RTK inactivation through recruited phosphatase activity.
- Adhering to strict health & safety procedures in hazardous labs, we also conducted experimentation towards our Gold Crest Award.

- Tasked with developing our sponsorship + marketing strategies alongside overseeing team finances.
- Awarded Top 3 in 'Sponsorship & Marketing' at National Finals with a sponsorship revenue equivalent over 25x larger than some of our competitors.
- Regional finals winners (1st Place overall with additional 'Best Engineered Car' and 'Fastest Car' prizes).
