My Subscription Addiction (MSA) is one of the largest direct to consumer subscription review sites with 3M+ visits/month and a strong community of customers.  MSA built a web destination that curates content and offers reviews and deals to help customers discover and sign-up for subscriptions.  

I worked with the CEO as a thought partner to strategize and implement a large transition for the company, focusing on building teams, identifying operational and organizational gaps and inefficiencies, and building a workplace culture in which employees can thrive.

Convexity Properties is a fully integrated real estate investment firm based in Chicago.  Convexity Properties is the real estate arm of DRW Trading Group.  

Leasing Manager - Orchestrated deal life-cycle by sourcing and engaging tenants, skillfully negotiating LOIs and leases, coordinating landlord work, tenant work and/or turnkey buildout management.  Lead leasing efforts with national, regional, and local retailers on more than 250,000 sq ft of urban commercial retail in Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, and East Lansing, MI.  

Asset Manager – Served as owner’s representative for a 400+ bed limited service hotel.  Oversaw onsite management, revenue management, and marketing teams.  Provided data driven solutions and transparency into asset performance, market challenges, historical trends and strategic changes.

DRW Trading Group (DRW) is a proprietary trading group, identifying and capturing trading and investment opportunities globally. 

I created DRW’s first comprehensive campus recruitment strategy.  Responsible for recruiting and retaining 350+ undergraduate, graduate, and PHD level new hires (full time and intern) from top universities across DRW’s Chicago and London offices.  Designed an on-campus brand awareness plan, earning a respected reputation with high performing talent and strategic partnerships with university staff.  Consistently charted and analyzed recruiting and talent gap metrics to identify recruiting program strength.  Lead recruiting program pivots when necessary, maximizing short and long term firm objectives. 

Founded DRW’s dynamic and comprehensive on-boarding and education programs for interns and full time employees.  Procured strategic leadership training for teams and individuals.  

Led, managed, and mentored the Campus Recruiting team and Campus Representatives team.

Gained trading experience in numerous derivative markets while collaborating with an integrated team of Quantitative Researchers, Software Engineers, and Traders.  Responsibilities included recording all trading activities, including position tracking, risk assessment and vital theoretical values, and providing traders with accurate reports indicating current positional risk in a time-sensitive environment.  Efficiently prepared volatility reports, reconciliations, P&L analysis, market research, and risk scenarios.

A 21-year-old asked for my best career advice.

My answer: learn to manage up.

Most people suck at managing up. They say too much or too little.

8 ways to manage up like a pro:

1. Set the stage.

Executives are busy. Start every email or meeting with 60 seconds of context:

↳ "What are we talking about?"
↳ "Why is this important?"
↳ "Where did we leave off?"

2. Value their time 10x more than yours.

This will make you disciplined about:

↳ Follow-ups
↳ Action items
↳ Clear, concise communication

3. Use FYI and NNTR.

Not every message needs a response or action.

↳ Example: "FYI, the dashboard is updated as you requested. No need to reply."

4. Understand the hierarchy of communication.

Some modes are better for urgency:

↳ Most Urgent: Phone
↳ Less Urgent: Text, Slack
↳ Async: Email (with "Request" in subject and a clear deadline)

5. You still own the monkey.

If you ask your boss for something, it’s still your job to ensure it’s done. Escalate as needed until it’s complete.

6. Always follow up.

After meetings, send a quick summary with action items.

↳ Specify: WHO will do WHAT by WHEN.

7. Regular reporting.

Create a system for progress updates. Make them:

↳ Regular
↳ Quantitative
↳ Data-driven

8. Seek feedback.

Ask: "Do my updates make it easy for you to see progress? What can I do to make it a 10/10?"
