Our services include an emergency department, outpatient rehabilitation, clinics, a laboratory, and a post-acute rehabilitation center.

As the Administrator of WGH, I managed the hospital's operations and ensured that our activities align with our established goals and policies.

Key Achievements:
•	Managed the daily operations and P&L (worth $25 million) for all assigned departments within Wahiawa General Hospital.
•	Successfully developed and executed a facility closure plan for the post-acute care service line while opening a new 45-bed acute care service line.
•	Created a relocation plan in accordance with Hawaii Department of Public Health and federal regulations, ensuring the safe and efficient transfer of residents.
•	Led organization-wide performance improvement initiatives, utilizing the DMAIC process, resulting in a 12% increase in net operating margins and an 8% improvement in occupancy rate.
•	Ensured the hospital met regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations, working closely with the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
•	Mentored and coached staff and other leaders to improve organizational performance and foster a culture aligned with the hospital's mission, vision, and ALOHA values.
•	Improved hospital KPIs, resulting in a 12% increase in net operating margins and an 8% improvement in occupancy rate.

WGH Administrator "CAO"

As a Clinical Consultant at Wahiawa General Hospital, I was hired to help develop strategies to improve regulatory compliance and increase revenue. My focus was on enhancing patient care and outcomes through the launch of impactful quality improvement initiatives, which resulted in improved HCAP scores. Additionally, I played a key role in strengthening community relations to drive revenue growth.

Thanks to the success of my efforts, I was offered the opportunity to transition into the position of Chief Administrative Officer after just three months in my role as a Clinical Consultant. In my new role, I continued to drive positive change for the hospital and its patients, leveraging my experience and expertise to lead successful initiatives and improve organizational efficiency.

As the CEO of a 100-bed healthcare facility with an annual budget of $15 million, I was responsible for providing operational leadership and direction to clinical and non-clinical departments. My time at Advantage was marked by a focus on building positive relationships and promoting collaborations with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including community partners, hospice and home health agencies, and other healthcare delivery systems.

Thanks to these partnerships, I achieved high clinical outcomes and exceeded our budgetary goals. 

I am proud to have maintained census levels during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic and successfully navigated union negotiations and grievances. My commitment to excellence and collaboration helped drive the success of Advantage during my tenure.

Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers

I started my career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and quickly advanced to a Team Leader, overseeing 20 staff members. I then continued my professional development by becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and finally a Registered Nurse (RN) Weekend Supervisor at Rainbow Rehab. In this role, I was responsible for providing care to patients recovering from auto accidents and those diagnosed with spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). I provided direct oversight to the nursing and therapy staff, overseeing patients who required advanced treatments such as IV, PICC, and Midline therapy, trach management, vent management, complex wound care with Wound Vac, as well as the management of suprapubic and nephrostomy tubes and G, J, and NG tubes.

Weekend Nurse Supervisor 

WELLCARE MANAGEMENT SERVICE, LLC

As a Regional Vice President at Wellcare Management Service, I was responsible for the leadership and management of three long-term care facilities totaling 275 beds. Within three months of being hired as an NHA, I was promoted to this position. I successfully developed and implemented a 50M P&L, which led to an increase in payer mix/census from 69% to 88% through my efforts in connecting with external stakeholders and crafting targeted marketing strategies for each facility. I also reduced overall operational expenses by 8.5% by streamlining agency usage and reducing the number of RTHs. My focus on maintaining a favorable ppd within the assigned facilities allowed me to negotiate union contracts and address grievances as necessary. I was responsible for overseeing federal, complaint, and relicensing surveys and had the authority to make hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions for administrators and DONS. I supervised all clinical and administrative functions in the facilities and ensured that they met or exceeded federal, state, and local standards through my efforts in ensuring survey readiness across the organization.

Evangelical Homes of Michigan

At Evangelical Homes of Michigan, I served as the Clinical Manager/Director of Nursing. In this role, I was responsible for developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures that aligned with best practices to improve patient care. I monitored the agency's monthly performance, intervened as needed, and kept up-to-date with local and state laws affecting clinical professional practice and home care regulations. Additionally, I provided support to the Administrator by assisting with the orientation of new clinical staff, assigning preceptors when necessary, and participating in certification, accreditation, and audit procedures.

Clinical Manager/ Director of Nursing

As a Healthcare Consultant at SMK Medical, I offer expert consultancy services to various homecare organizations across several states. I guide these organizations through CMS and JCAHO surveys and develop and execute corrective action plans as necessary.

•	Provided expert consultant services to various homecare agencies in different states
•	Led organizations through CHAP and JCAHO surveys and developed and implemented plans of correction as needed
•	Oversaw the clinical department and developed the clinical manager role across various agencies
•	Developed and implemented policies and procedures consistent with CMS 2017/2018 CoP's
•	Implemented quality programs to improve quality outcomes by reducing hospital readmissions, decreasing episode time, and increasing revenue
•	Coordinated OASIS submission to the state, reviewed and corrected OASIS errors, and validated Casper reports using data analytics
•	Monitored OBQI and OBQM indicators, compiled and analyzed data to improve star levels
•	Reviewed and developed required documentation for re-certifications and 485s

Seventeen years ago today, I asked my good friend Stephanie to be my girlfriend, and somehow, she said yes! Fast forward 17 years, and she's now my wife. It's not every day you find someone who sees the potential in you when you were, well, a bit of a project.

Picture this: 17-year-old me, fresh out of high school with an impressive 1.0 GPA (yeah, I know, pure genius). No career goals, no job goals, no life goals. But there I was. Steph looked at me and said, "If you want to be with me, you have to be something." Talk about a motivational speaker!

I know what you're thinking: how could she say that? She had just landed the catch of her life! I mean, look at me (cue the sarcasm). I was 5'11", in peak physical condition (round), and clearly one of the smartest people she knew. She definitely hit the jackpot!

Now, 17 years later, we're still going strong, pushing each other to greatness, and living life on our terms. And here's a fun fact: I've now known Steph for more years than I haven't known her. Mind-blowing, right?

So, thank you, Steph, for believing in me, for pushing me to be better, and for just being you. You truly found the diamond in the rough (emphasis on the rough).
