Helping tell the fascinating story of one of the UK's fastest growing companies through the eyes of it's CEO.  

Through this work, Steven became a social media influencer (0 - 1m+ follower growth across platforms) and global public speaker leading to national PR, TV & Radio for himself & Social Chain, commercial deals with Huawei & Adobe and being named as 'The Most Influential Person In The Industry' by Econsultancy.

GREAT INFLUENCE’S FIRST BOOK LAUNCH! 🙌🏻

In 2010, I was in college and attending Sacha Lord’s events as a happy customer.

Fast forward to 2019 and i managed to start working with him… a dream achieved ✅

A couple of years into working together, we went for a walk and Sacha shared that he had started writing a book.

That book has now become a reality and is the first time Great Influence has worked on a book launch.

The team have given this book launch everything with over a year of planning and to see the posters around Manchester was a pinch me moment that i wouldn’t have believed in 2010 and a proud step in the journey of Great Influence 🙏🏻

Erling Haaland - Record breaking goalscorer and now investor and shareholder?!? 

I am obsessed with the trend of athletes becoming entrepreneurs and here is another footballer leveraging their personal brand to make a well-aligned move into business and entrepreneurship. 

Erling Haaland has announced becoming a minority owner in hairband company Bon Dep and is aiming to double their turnover.

Haaland is a megastar and knows his value. He could do a brand partnership with the company or he could own a stake and build his business portfolio alongside his footballing career.

This will be a rising trend over the next few years with more athletes and celebrities wanting to be seen as "Founders", "CEOs", "Investors" and "Entrepreneurs".

Just because you can’t see the impact that posting on linkedin has, that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

It’s easy to post on here and feel like you’re not making an impression on people. We’re desensitised to a few likes and comments, it doesn’t feel real.

But then something happens, you’re at an event and someone introduces themselves and says “I’ve seen you on LinkedIn”.

That interaction is exactly why you’re turning up in the first place, but it’s so easy to forget as it doesn’t happen all the time.

Keep making the time to think of ideas for content.
Keep posting even if it feels uncomfortable at times.
Keep showing up even on the busy weeks.

Trust the process.

The weird thing about starting to build a personal brand is that you have to feel like an imposter. 

“Why would anyone care about what I've got to say?”

A completely unavoidable thought.

But the only way you build the authority to be that person who is qualified is by putting yourself out there and building up your reputation and letting the world learn who you are and what you’ve done.

Remember - none of the people who we all follow and listen to now were qualified when they started. 

5 reasons why 2024 has seen Founders, CEOs and leadership teams creating content and putting themselves out there more than ever:

1. It's now becoming "Part of the job".

If you’re running a business, the last few years of your peers creating content has normalised the idea that posting on LinkedIn is a part of your role as much as hiring, new business and company culture is. 

2. The competition

If your competitors are doing something, it places more importance on you doing it. Now most business owners will either be putting themselves out there or their competitor is, either of those is resulting in somebody to put themselves out there who wouldn’t necessarily do so. 

3. They now know what to do

There are blueprints to follow now to help people get started. Other people are leading the way and this inspires those who are less sure about their own path and who just need to get started. 

4. The ROI

Posting on social media is free. If a Founder posts on LinkedIn about their company culture and it results in them hiring someone, they just saved thousands of pounds in recruiter fees. If a Founder posts on LinkedIn about the work they do and it results in them gaining new business, they just generated tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of pounds in revenue. For free. 

5. A rise in Personal Brand agencies

The truth is that it’s really hard to do this consistently on your own. Like any form of branding and marketing, companies often rely on agencies to help them do it at scale. There’s been a rise in the number of agencies that can support Founders, CEOs and leadership teams to be able to make the logistics and execution of it possible without draining their time and focus which is on their business. 


Today is “Autism Acceptance Day” and 12 months ago when I found out I was autistic (trust me, I had no idea) I have never accepted and welcomed something so much in my entire life. 

It’s strange to think of needing a day for “acceptance” of something like this, but when 8 out of 10 neurodiverse people don’t feel comfortable sharing the fact, you can see why it's important. 

The thing that didn’t make sense to me and that I couldn’t accept was my entire life BEFORE I found out, the acceptance once I found out was the easy part. “Ah! Everything makes sense now…”

Being autistic is being “different”. 

But since starting my career, initially in marketing and then running a business, everyone that I’ve met has been “different” in some way, that’s why they’re in creative careers and running businesses. 

For the first 25 years of my life, in my hometown and at school, being different wasn’t accepted and it wasn’t outlined to me that it would be the thing that would help me in my career. 

For the last 10 years of my life, in marketing and entrepreneurship, being different has been the most important thing to be. 

Everyone I’ve met who has embraced their “different” has stood out from the busy crowd, been successful and built great things. 

In 2018 I met Sacha Lord when he came to the Social Chain office to be one of the first guests on Diary Of A CEO.

I knew Sacha was one of the most pivotal people in Manchester’s musical history, but what I didn’t know was the behind the scenes of all that. 

His story was quite literally a rollercoaster. 

I love working with people who have great stories, and Sacha had them in abundance. 

Tomorrow his debut book “Tales From The Dancefloor” comes out and the work that Sacha has put into this book is immense. After the last 6 years since having first met him and working with him over the last 4 years, I thought I knew all his stories.
