Senior Communications Specialist - Nova Transformation Project (term)

Teranet Manitoba

Teranet Manitoba maintains the official Land Titles Registry and Personal Property Registry for the Province of Manitoba. I provided strategic communications and marketing advice to the regional management team, developed strategic communications strategies and messaging to address complex business issues, supported project teams and help launch new technology solutions to clients, employees and other stakeholders. 

Key accomplishments: 

• Lead regional crisis communications efforts for COVID-19 and participated on the national external crisis communications team for Teranet corporate.

• Managed the development and delivery of an organizational rebranding project, including the creation of a new website, to relaunch The Property Registry as Teranet Manitoba in 2019.

• Developed the organization’s social media strategy, managed content calendars, created original content, and monitored analytics. My external communications and marketing initiatives contributed to the 94% communications rating in company’s 2019 Customer Experience Survey.

• Helped execute the 2019 Employee Engagement Action Plan which resulted in a 12% increase in employee engagement over 2018 results.

Communications Manager

Key accomplishments:

• Managed an eight month marketing and communications campaign to launch a new, electronic land registry solution to law firms, financial institutions and other organizations who conduct land registry transactions in Manitoba.

• Lead the communications efforts for multiple projects delivered through the Client Service Improvement Initiative, including developing and executing project-specific communications plans and crafting targeted, audience-specific messaging campaigns.

• Designed and implemented an official Writing Style Guide and brand standards processes for company communications and marketing.

Osborne Recruitment provides temporary and short-term reception, secretarial, data entry and general office support employees for businesses in Dublin, Ireland. My assignments included placements at Deloitte Ireland, Wyse Estate Agents and Eversheds Ireland.

As part of the corporate communications department, I wrote, developed and implemented marketing and communications strategies to address complex business issues impacting customers, business partners and employees at all levels.

Key accomplishments:

• Managed the planning, development, editing and production of high quality print and digital marketing materials.

• Worked on a project team to launch four new insurance products to thousands of motorcycle customers. My primary responsibility was to develop and implement a comprehensive customer marketing strategy which ensured the campaign launched on time.

• Managed several successful employee communications campaigns, such as a World Kindness Day poster campaign and Pay It Forward Day e-card campaign, which helped increase employee engagement and tied into an evolving corporate culture.

Strategic Communications Coordinator (term)

Canadian Diabetes Association

Live Well! Bien Vivre! is a healthy lifestyle program working to prevent chronic disease in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. I led promotions and marketing activities for the program, and provided general communications support for Canadian Diabetes Association initiatives in Atlantic Canada.

Key accomplishments:

• Managed the production of a promotional video to market the project to new funders and jurisdictions, including developing scripts, managing production companies, and securing interview subjects and filming locations. 

• Designed and built the livewellbienvivre.com website and was responsible for creating and managing all site content in English and French. 

• Developed campaign strategies and created new content to increase engagement among social media followers.

• Led media relations efforts, including developing tailored communications strategies, key messages, speaking points and story pitches, which resulted in earned media coverage for the project, an increase in client registrations, and raised the overall profile of the project.

Communications Officer, Live Well! Bien Vivre! Project (term)

Richardson International

Richardson International Limited is Canada’s largest privately owned agribusiness with more than 100 locations. I reported to the Director of Corporate Communications and provided communications services and branding oversight to all corporate divisions.

Key accomplishments:

• Worked extensively with internal departments to create new marketing and promotional materials, including brochures, sell sheets and other templates, presentations and newsletters using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. This enabled us to provide more consistent branding to our sales and marketing materials and reduced third-party expenditures, particularly to creative and advertising agencies.

• I was the communications lead on the development of a new corporate intranet site. As a site administrator, I was also responsible for developing the site’s brand standards, creating user guides and providing user training and support.

• Managed and maintained the richardson.ca website, including writing and managing the site content. 

• Worked with the Director and with internal stakeholders at all levels to regulate branding and increase brand consistency across all business divisions.

Farm Business Communications / Glacier Media

Farm Business Communications is Canada’s largest agricultural publisher. I worked in the Advertising Services department where I was responsible for the placement, coordination and verification of submitted artwork throughout their print newspapers and magazines.

Key accomplishments:

• Coordinated a major client media buying project across 40 community newspapers in Western Canada.

• Expanded my responsibilities by taking on assignments for the editorial department, including writing articles for the Manitoba Cooperator (print and online editions) and editing videos for the grainews.ca website.

Advertising Services Coordinator

Food Matters Manitoba

Food Matters Manitoba is a registered charity that works to develop fair and sustainable food systems in the province of Manitoba, Canada. My position was created through a government grant program and my role involved developing communications practices and action plans that would remain in place after funding for the role came to a close. 

Key accomplishments:

• Developed the organization's 2011 communications strategy, which included an essential new fundraising campaign and audience-targeted promotional strategies.

• Led the media relations strategy, built relationships with local media contacts and represented the organization in media interviews.

Communications Coordinator (term)

I'm a certified Communications Management Professional (CMP) and a Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP) with experience working in corporate, government and not-for-profit associations. I manage marketing campaigns, internal and external communications strategies and change management plans, develop content, and provide strategic business communications advice. 

Creating branded content is exciting to me. I believe it's important for engagement, for acquisitions, and for supporting people through change. I like to think I'm at my best when I can create compelling, well-written, and effective print and online content that helps achieve real business goals. Like most people who love to make lists, I excel at managing multiple projects and strategies. I'm highly organized and analytical, work well with others, and am not shy to ask probing questions if I think it will help us to do our very best work.
