I am a Director of this LLC. Our aim is to help our whananu to realise the potential of the whenua, and whakapapa (including the people, the marae and the awa) of the Te Reureu Valley. We have sucessfully  refurbished 7 marae at a total cost of $1.2M, which included a social procurement model of investing 45% of the cost into Maori businesses; as well as established a solar power sharing scheme that involves 3 of our marae, and over 12 houses, including kaumatua flats. We are currently exploring the establishment of a rural water scheme for homes in our valley.

I'm the Director Te Ao Māori Census23. After the challenges of Census 2018, and in particular the low Māori community count, Statistics NZ undertook a review and has developed a comprehensive program to ensure Census 2023 embraces a strong Te Ao Māori approach. The
team I lead is responsible for ensuring this approach is embedded and integrated into Census 23, is properly resourced, and that our Māori partners feel included, informed, engaged, are supportive of us, and feel supported by us.
