How I IMPROVED David Howe's Website:

The BIGGEST mistake I made as a Web Designer/Developer...

→ Not creating a list of what I should get from the client

May not seem big but once you're working, not having what you need in the moment can stop the whole process.

Need more information for a specific section?

→ You have to ask the client for more information & you may have to wait a while

It's not the client's fault, so NEVER blame the client.

BUT...

The best thing about making a mistake is that you learn from it.

So what did I do?

→ I created a doc on ALL of the information I will need

So I can simply send it to the client!

The BEST Design Tip:

→ Building landing pages instead of websites

Why?

Because landing pages are ONE page, not multiple & focus on ONE specific thing.

The homepage of a website is a landing page.

It's trying to sell a product or service throughout the whole page (just like what a landing page does).

Focus on mastering the most compelling page of a website by working on landing pages.

Not only will this help with the homepage...

It will make you better at making sub-pages more compelling.

While this is good, there's a way you can enhance your recognition as a Real Estate agent...

How is this good?

Well think of it this way:

You & many OTHER agents are on that team page.

This means you don't STAND OUT from the others.

But if you have your own website, others can learn about YOU & why YOU'RE the best choice.

How?

→ Your own PERSONAL testimonials

The list could go on & on.

But the part you want to focus on as much as possible is making it about YOU.

Is your website struggling to convert?

I have a simple solution for you with these 5 steps to take:

1) You NEED to have Clear Call-to-Actions (CTAs). 

Ensure your CTAs stand out & guide visitors toward the desired action.

2) Make the content compelling. 

Use content that is both useful & interesting, addresses the issues that your target audience faces, & shows how your service or product can help them. This can be through copy, blog posts, testimonials, etc. 

This leads me to point number 3...

3) Provide social proof. This can be reviews, testimonials, endorsements, & so on. 

Why do you need to do this? 

Because it creates trust between you & the visitor.

It also shows you can provide excellent work by showcasing positive customer experiences.

4) Fast website loading speed.

It may not seem like this would help but it can play a HUGE role in conversions.

Slow-loading websites can frustrate users & increase bounce rates.

To fix this, compress images, choose a fast web hosting provider (such as Webflow), limit the use of plugins, etc.

5) Design.

This one is very simple.

An out-of-date design can make users concerned about whether the website is trustworthy.

A good design consists of:

→ Being up-to-date

→ User-Centered

→ Visual appeal

I don't know anyone who hates this sort of view.

The sun is out.

Bright colours all around.

Remember to go outside every day.

We are born into a beautiful world, so why not see it?

This is by far the BEST design I've ever made.

I personally think Non-Profit/Charity websites are the best to make.

Why?

Because depending on what sort of charity it is, there are ENDLESS design options.

I prefer to do bright & colourful as it attracts ALL users, especially younger people.

I Went From:

- Being unorganized

- Having no document for my clients to look at

- No design process to follow

- No spreadsheet

To Having:

- All of the above

- Over 100+ tools that I can use

- MULTIPLE folders FILLED with guides, tools, etc

Trust me, get all of this sorted out at the BEGINNING.

Otherwise, you'll be lost for a while.

Which testimonial section grabs your attention the most?

This is part of a redesign I did for David Howe's personal website.

I aimed to make every part of the website stand out (especially the important information).

Motivation < Consistency.

NEVER rely on motivation.

That doesn't mean never be motivated, it means stop doing things only when you have the motivation to do them.

No one has ever succeeded this way.

Because you get one thing done and you get it done again in a month.

Show up every day but work your hardest.

Just because you show up every day doesn't mean you are doing your best.

Be consistent and work hard.

That's how you will get what you dream of.

The ONLY problem with most Real Estate websites is that they look similar to the rest.

This isn't the Real Estate Group's fault.

The point of a Real Estate website is to get you to go to them to sell or buy a house, which means it can be hard to be different.

But there is a way to stand out...

Let's take a previous Real Estate client of mine as an example.

Before (on the right), the properties were lined up in a way that you see most Real Estate websites do.

So with a redesign (on the left), I made each property stand out in its own unique way.

I may be biased but...

Webflow is the best!

A feature I love most is the "Audit" feature.

Throughout the whole process including publishing the website, Webflow lets me know what can be improved, why it should be improved, & how it can be improved.

The perfect feature for those who aren't designers or developers & just want to publish a website!

Making clients happy is easy, but...

YOU need to do everything you can to satisfy them.

No slacking around & being lazy.

Give them as much value as you can possibly give them.

Put in the work to see results.

Webflow Tip For Your Clients:

→ Explaining how Webflow works & how they can use it

Even if you're maintaining your client's website, you still NEED to show them the basics of how to use it.

Something small goes wrong & they want to fix it themselves?

They can simply fix it themselves.

This is a part of the VALUE you give to your client.

Not only does it show that you know what you're doing, but it also shows that you care about the client.

A lot of developers will just hand over the project & that's it.

→ No explanation

→ No value

Then they have to spend even more money than what they wanted to in the long run.
