Ato Micah is a classically-trained brand marketing executive turned global entrepreneur. A passionate servant leader with 20+ years of experience delivering exceptional results for Procter & Gamble, Nielsen, and Millward Brown in the United States, Ghana, and Nigeria. Ato currently serves as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Maverick Research - a first-of-its-kind, technology-forward market research company based in Accra, Ghana— making consumer insights about what Africans buy, watch, and listen to seamlessly available for the first time. Prior to founding Maverick Research, Ato led Nielsen’s Retail Measurement Practice in Ghana and Nigeria, covering over 100 fast moving consumer goods categories in both markets. In his prior role at Neilsen, he served as Country Director for Ghana and Client Business Partner – Unilever where he led significant growth of the Ghana business and the Unilever-Neilsen engagement across Sub Saharan Africa. Before joining Neilsen in 2012, Ato spent 12 years growing brands at Procter and Gamble and Sun Products, and driving growth at Millward Brown. Known for both his work ethic and bias for big ideas, Ato’s most notable career moments include leading the successful turnaround of a $60 Million brand after 12 consecutive quarters of decline, tripling the data subscriber base of a leading telecommunications company, and launching a new product that won “Best Innovation” at the 2008 NACS Convention. A proven people-multiplier, Ato’s connection-first leadership style is grounded in a deep care for and commitment to the growth and development of his teams. He credits his upbringing in Ghana for its foundational influence on his belief that opportunity is never to be squandered and people are always to be valued for their contributions and potential. Thanks to his values and approach, Ato has grown Maverick Research into a highly sought-after partner with clients including the World Economic Forum (Davos), Aker Energy, Wilmar, Borderless Alliance, The World Bank and Dentsu Aegis in fewer than 4 years. Maverick also recently announced an exclusive partnership with SentiOne that will offer an advanced social listening service to businesses operating in Sub Saharan Africa. Committed to service in every aspect of his life, Ato’s board appointments include FreezeLink and Credit Mall Limited. Beyond professional endeavors, his most important role is as a husband, father of 2, and godfather of 12 (!). He and his family split their time between Houston, Texas and Accra, Ghana.
