The second project involved working on extracting data from a client server, transforming it into a JSON, and uploading it into a big data architecture using tools like Hadoop, Hive, and Pig just to name a few.

I worked on a team that goes by “SIP”—Strategic Innovation Partners. Our team functions as a sub-set of Optum’s Account Management organization for SD&SS. We help IT work differently by coupling long-term relationships with technology based solutions, giving new life to our business partner’s ideas.

I work with data science and machine learning to navigate through big data and created a Business Intelligence Tool following the nelson rules. This tool is aligned with our business partners proactive monitoring of claims payments, irregularities, potential defects and creating a better experience between IT, business, and customers. I have been exposed to different areas of the enterprise. I also learned how to gather requirements, estimate costs, connect to databases, extract big data, use modern technologies, and use predictive analytics following an SCRUM - Agile project life cycle.

As a data science research assistant at PSU, I played a key role in developing a cutting-edge predictive model for the 2016 elections to support a graduate level NLP doctorate thesis. Specifically, I utilized my expertise in web scraping to develop a custom tool that extracted Twitter data at the county level. This data was then carefully analyzed to assess sentiment, providing valuable insights into voter preferences and opinions leading up to the election.
