Starting as adviser with Big 4 tax advisory firm in the Netherlands, and later as in-house VAT expert and manager, he has built up extensive experience with and knowledge of global indirect tax issues in day-to-day practice within multinational companies. He is also available for training and workshops and as speaker for seminars and conferences. After working as an independent VAT Interim Manager for more than 5 years, Bas joined Less Grey as of January 2021. This partnership allows him to not only do Interim assignments and projects, but to offer VAT compliance, Fiscal Representation, VAT Refund, and ad hoc advisory services. His experience includes performing VAT reviews, 'translate'​ VAT rules to business processes and vice versa, developing indirect tax tools, managing day-to-day VAT and other indirect tax related issues, providing VAT trainings, discussing / negotiating VAT and other tax issues with tax authorities and tax advisers, as well as with in-house controllers and other departments, and developing indirect tax strategies. Bas has also been a speaker and workshop leader at international events and seminars to share his experiences with and views on indirect taxes. In previous roles, Bas operated as a Global Indirect Tax Director in an International Tax Department, where he was responsible for indirect taxes globally. This included defining and communicating indirect tax policies and strategies, as well as being actively involved in lobbying.
