I’ve been in the accounting and finance field my entire career. I’m a CPA, although I never practiced public accounting. I went through the process at one point in my life to pass that pretty extensive exam, but my focus has always been on the corporate world. Over the years, I’ve held roles as a CFO and controller, working in various industries—from Fortune 500 companies to private equity firms and small businesses. Each step of my career gave me different insights and experiences, which shaped where I am today. About eight or ten years ago, a friend of mine was starting a business and asked me to help with some accounting on the side.
