An Industrial Designer and Chartered Marketer, Ben spent over a decade developing and leading Cambridge Design Partnership’s design, and ‘Front End Innovation’ business streams, and was a member of the Board. A named inventor on numerous patents, his career includes consultancy in the US, in-house new product development and innovation roles for high profile consumer product companies including Dyson (one of the original DC15 ‘Ball-vac’ team, among other iconic products), and Black & Decker, and several years in a role creating and implementing strategic Government initiatives using design as an economic growth catalyst. In various roles he has carried out primary research and insight activities in North America, Latin America, Asia, and all over Europe, and provided design and innovation consultancy for healthcare and consumer businesses ranging from VC funded start-ups, to $billion global brands. He is passionate about stake-holder centred, and ‘affective’ design approaches, use of advanced Qual and Quant innovation techniques to prioritise opportunities. Working with a broad range of clients across consumer technology and services, packaged goods, and healthcare markets, Ben's advocacy for a multi-disciplinary approach builds breakthrough innovation on commercial, technical, and human sensory insight. From front end strategy and 'insight for innovation', concept generation, detailed design, to transition to manufacture, his experience of systematic innovation process helps manage risk, improve commercial performance and achieve design excellence - ensuring the multi-sensory user experience is as compelling as the enabling technology.
