I had it all. Or at least thought I did. Secure job, on track to make 6 figures. Great health insurance, pension plan, and retirement savings. Married with one kid and another on the way and a great house that we loved. Then the unthinkable happened. I’ll never forget that Friday afternoon... Standing in the office with the rest of the admin team after the students had left… And getting the news that schools were shutting down for two weeks because of this CoronaVirus thing. At the time, we all thought it was just an early Spring break. We were sure that we'd be back doing what we loved before the end of the month. Then the news kept rolling in, sports began to shut down... And we realized that we weren’t going to be going back to school any time soon. On top of that, my son was due to be born in April. And my wife and I found out that I wouldn’t be allowed in the hospital room for the birth. So we scrambled and called a homebirth practice that we’d had discussions with. And we were the LAST couple that they booked a homebirth with due to such a high demand. From the moment he was born, I got to spend the first 5 months with my son and my daughter every day. No late nights, no early mornings, no weekends. And I realized that while I loved teaching, my heart was at home. So I pivoted to learn the craft of copywriting and email marketing.
