• Implemented a high-performance, low-latency Python API (FastAPI) with an event-driven architecture for teams across the company to send validated client & server side events at scale, leading to reliable streaming pipelines while improving  downstream data quality.

• Refactored a legacy pipeline that was sending duplicate emails to customers by decoupling transformation, validation and forwarding logic with AWS EventBridge to handle 11.5m events daily while enhancing processing speed, leading to 6x faster event delivery and faster customer emails. 

• Deployed a modern data catalog tool onto an AWS EKS cluster using Terraform and Helm, and ingested over 10,000 datasets from Redshift, dbt and Tableau, enabling efficient data discovery, data governance and metadata management for analysts and business stakeholders.

• Revamped CICD pipelines for key repositories, incorporating caching and multistage builds with the Docker BuildKit driver, resulting in 2-3x faster deployments and substantial time and cost savings

Skills developed during this period include Python, data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.

Capstone Project: Predicting Online News Popularity
As part of my capstone project, I scraped over 16K articles and 5M comments from the New York Times.  After using a range of feature engineering techniques, I created a classification model that was able to predict whether an article would receive more than 90 comments achieving an accuracy of nearly 80%. This model also allowed me to identify several top predictors of online news popularity including article length and text sentiment.
