In space, every gram and cubic inch counts. This concept shows how BYU Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering’s Bloom Pattern could enable compact satellite components that deploy into large, rigid structures once in orbit.

The origami-inspired geometry unfolds smoothly from a flat disk into a precise, repeatable 3D shape — ideal for solar arrays, antennas, or sensors.

The Bloom Pattern is available for licensing through BYU Technology Transfer.
