My personal and professional background: "There must be ways to avoid the large losses during crash periods", was my first assumption when I started my professional career in quantitative risk management in 2008 during the Great Financial Crisis. This thought ever stayed in my mind and motivated me to develop proprietary applications to analyze investment strategies with a special focus on risks. My goal has been to achieve returns of attractive asset classes with less risks (and also to boost returns while controlling risks). And yes! Such strategies exists and I am applying them in my accounts since 2011 and in public since 2012 on wikifolio.com. This hobby of mine also impacted my professional career in many areas. First, in software development, data warehousing and data engineering to gather market data and analyze them systematically and automatically. Second, in quantitative risk management and portfolio management where I had the opportunity to implement processes and products based on my experience.
