Do you know why people buy?

For one reason.

They want the benefits you promise.

But do you know how to make them buy?

-It’s not by begging them to purchase
-It’s not by giving away your solution
-It’s not by holding a gun to their head

And no, it’s not by saying you’ll get this and this and this…

So how you ask?




By fascinating them.

Nobody simply buys because they want the benefits, you need some X factor.

You need to make those benefits emotionally charged.
It has to make them believe - this is exactly what I was looking for!

Do this one exercise the next time you write benefits.
1) Write down all the features of your product
2) Convert them into how they would help your customers (benefits)
3) Now expand on how it would impact their lives
4) And then write about how it would make them feel

You’re only allowed to use the last 2 versions of the benefits in your copy.

Today I completed 60 days of consistent posting on LinkedIn.

Here’s what I’ve learned.


Let’s start with the perks:
- Got myself in a consistent habit of getting in front of people
- Made some amazing friends
- Connected with individuals I would’ve never dreamed of
- Got paid

Here are the downsides:
- Takes way too much of my time for engagement
- Drains a lot of my energy


But the positives outweigh the negatives.
And it’s a trade I’m willing to make.


I used to find the topic of celebrating small wins cringe…
But I’m using the behavior patterns to stick with LinkedIn.
(Trigger - Action - Reward - Investment)
And so I’m rewarding myself with small milestone achievements.

How long have you been on LinkedIn?

Yesterday, something amazing happened.

Me and my brother were going to the beach.


But the road was blocked due to construction...

And it is the only road that leads to the beach!


Many people were turning their vehicles around and going home.

But we had travelled so far and the sea was right in front of us.


So did we let the roadblock stop us?
Did we turn around and go home?



Hell no...


We decided to ask a nearby property owner if we could park our bike.
And he was kind enough to say yes.

We then walked our way to the beach.

It was only 10 minutes away!


You see…

Sometimes you're closer to the destination than you think.
You just need a different way of getting there.

Don’t let small roadblocks stop you.
If you’re stuck, all you have to do is ask.

is research.

Here are 3 types of research you must do to write compelling copy:
1) Prospect research
2) Product research
3) Market research

Prospect research-
Write down your prospect’s pain, fear, wants and dreams
Write down what your prospect believes about a similar product.
Find words and phrases that hit the hot button.

Product research-
Make a table and write down what your core offer is.
Write down what bonuses you vs your competitor offer.
Find the USP.
Write down all the features of your product and convert them to benefits.

Market research-
Ask questions that lead you to understand the market timing better.
What’s the best time to promote my product?
Is there anything happening in the market right now?


Once you have enough nuggets…
Use it to write compelling copy.

Study people who are where you want to be.

Study them.

You'll increase your probability of success.

Copywriting = Salesmanship in print.

Yet many copywriters suck when it comes to face-to-face sales calls.

Because...
Most people don't know what questions to ask.

Here are 10 questions I ask that transition to sales-
1) What are your goals?
2) What is the biggest headache with your business right now?
3) What have you tried before?
4) How did it work out for you?
5) How long have you been struggling with this?
6) How is this affecting your business?
7) Where would you be if you didn’t have this problem?
8) Have you worked with an agency/marketing expert before?
9) How did that work out for you?
10) What did you like or dislike about it?


Once you gather information, you present your product as a solution.
And ask for payment.

Then you answer all their questions aka objection handling.
And ask for the payment again.

Do not forget to send them a text or email later.

A few days back, I made a big change.

I decided to change what I consume.

I’ve been mindlessly scrolling on Instagram for a long time.

Even though I have uninstalled it on my phone…
I end up watching it on my laptop.

So last Saturday, I finally decided to stop.
I went from thoughtless scrolling to thoughtful consuming

Whenever I felt like opening Instagram, I visited acquisition.com.
And I started watching podcasts

I finished those 6 podcasts in 2 days (with notes to implement)
And then switched to Alex and Leila’s YouTube videos.

That one small change in habit helped me learn so many concepts I would’ve otherwise missed.

It wasn’t my goal to do it, I just shifted a small behavior and my life moved 10x.

The point is - small details matter.

When was the last time you changed a behavior?

Want to add specificity?

Use this.

Specificity is important for 2 reasons-
1) It suggests you’ve done your research
2) It grabs attention

Imagine if I told you there are plenty of stars in our galaxy.

How would you react?
Boring…

Now, what if I told you there are 5,607,302 stars in the galaxy?
You’d be curious and ask for proof.

And if I miraculously showed you the proof, you’d believe me.
(I don’t have any)

So here’s what you need to understand about specificity-
Specificity adds gravitas.

And there’s only 2 ways to do it:
1) Numbers
- 1 vs one (1 grabs attention here)
- 20% vs one-fifth (20% grabs attention here)
- 500,000 vs five hundred thousand vs half a million vs 6 figures

2) Detailed Description
- My method vs my 3T method
- Business owners vs Saas founders doing 7-figures in revenue
- Sitting vs Sitting crisscross on a yoga mat

Use this to your advantage.
Spice up your copy with specificity.

Here’s how I achieve a flow state almost every day.

The secret is simple.


You have to finish a task but don’t feel like starting?
The problem lies in your view about the task.

-If you feel the task is hard, you’ll become anxious.
-If you feel it’s too easy, you’ll be bored.

So what do you do?



"You turn it into a challenge."

When you try the task at a suitable level of difficulty, you’ll enjoy doing it.

10 pushups too hard?
How about 1? Too easy? 
5?

Don’t feel like writing a post?
How about writing 2 lines of something we like? Too easy? 
5 lines?


Of course, rest is important and has its place.
But this WILL make your everyday work enjoyable.

Your daily habits make you who you are.
So try this and let me know the results.

No clarity in writing?

Use this.

Writing with clarity is vastly misunderstood by people.
Because let’s be honest… 
What does clarity in writing even mean?

Is it good formatting?
Is it not using jargon?
Is it writing in sets of 3 like this set?

No.
It’s writing in a way that gets your point across.

How?
1) By writing one idea at a time 
2) And easy to read copy

Here’s a 12-point checklist to make your copy easy to read:

1) Write as if your prospect has to pee
2) Write in small paragraphs
3) Breakup long sentences
4) Use proper punctuation
5) Use proper font where applicable
6) Use subheads & bullets
7) Make sure the pronouns make sense
8) Remove adverbs from your copy
9) Remove the words - THAT, VERY, THING from your copy
10) Remove big words from your copy
11) Remove words that are repeating
12) Remove qualifiers like SHOULD, COULD, WOULD, I THINK…

Remember…
Your first draft is always going to suck.
The power lies in editing.

Every dollar you make on the front end is a customer you will never have.

Let me explain.


Let’s say you have a $150 offer on the front end.
You spend $50 to acquire a customer.
Now you have $100 profit in hand.

That’s 2 extra customers if you re-invest.


We call this customer acquisition aggression.

You never want to make a profit on gaining customers.

You can either go breakeven.
Meaning every dollar you make is reinvested.

Or you can go at a loss to acquire a customer.
Meaning you spend more on acquisition than you make.


This only makes sense if you have a solid back end though.
You don’t want to go in loss if you have no back end offer.


That’s why you’ll hear marketers say-
Profits are made on the backend.

Back end means you increase the LTV of your customer.
And that comes at a minimal cost.


Do you understand your business front end and back end?
