I almost didn't start my company!  
The wrong advice from the wrong person can quietly cost you years.

When I first considered starting Shenomics - the mindful leadership platform I’ve now been running for 10 years - someone I deeply respected, a mentor, told me:

“Don’t do it. The space is too crowded.”

For a moment, I listened. Disheartened. 
I almost reconsidered my decision.

But I couldn’t shake the vision I had. 

And so, I trusted my conviction over their caution.

All of that might never have happened if I had taken the wrong advice.

We live in a world overflowing with opinions:
➡️  Friends who mean well but haven’t walked your path.
➡️  Colleagues who project their own fears as “guidance.”
➡️  Leaders who speak from theory, not experience.

The result?
You get pulled in a hundred directions.
You confuse noise for wisdom.
You spend months - or years - chasing the wrong map.

And this is the danger:
Good intentions. Bad advice. Costly outcomes.

Here’s the truth:
Everyone has an opinion.
But not everyone has perspective.

Wisdom doesn’t come from those who’ve read about the road.
It comes from those who’ve walked it, stumbled on it, and returned with the lessons.

Before you take advice, ask yourself 3 filters:

1️⃣ Has this person actually walked the road I’m about to walk?
2️⃣ Do they represent the kind of future I want to build?
3️⃣ Are they speaking from scars - or just stories?

The best mentors, guides, and leaders share from lived experience.

They don’t project fear. 
They don’t prescribe theory.
They offer perspective born of resilience.

So the next time you’re flooded with opinions, remember this:
In a world full of noise, wisdom is the rare signal.

Find it. 
Follow it. 
And let it shape your steps on the road ahead.

not arrogance, but alignment.

Ambition is contagious.

If you want to grow, surround yourself with people who stretch you.

Think about it:
When you’re the most ambitious person in the room, your growth plateaus.

But when you step into spaces where others are dreaming bigger, risk-taking bolder, and pushing boundaries - you expand just by being near them.

This isn’t just philosophy.
Social psychology research (Nicholas Christakis, Yale University) shows that behaviors - whether health, happiness, or ambition - spread through networks like wildfire.

Your environment is silently shaping your trajectory.

So if growth feels stuck, don’t only look inward.
Look outward.

Who are you spending your time with?
What energy do they carry?
What goals are they chasing?

Practical ways to “upgrade your circle”:
🔥 Join a peer mastermind or leadership circle that challenges your thinking.
🔥 Spend time with people whose vision makes yours feel small - in the best way.
🔥 Audit your inputs: what you read, listen to, scroll through. These are part of your circle, too.

The truth is simple:
We rise - or settle - at the level of those around us.

✨ Surround yourself with people who have bigger goals than you.
Because ambition is contagious.

“Let Them” isn’t giving up.
It’s a powerful leadership skill.
Here’s what it really means.

Too often, “Let Them” is misunderstood as apathy or indifference - as if it means saying, “I don’t care,” or “It’s not my problem.”

But that’s not what it really means.
Let Them is about creating space - allowing others to own their journey, take responsibility, and grow.

It’s not detachment.
It’s a conscious act of trust.

As Mel Robbins says in her book "Let Them Theory":
“Letting go doesn’t mean you don’t care.
 It means you choose to focus your energy on what you can control.”

Contrast that with “Let Me.”
If Let Them is release, Let Me is taking responsibility for your part - 
showing up, not to fix, but to walk alongside.

Here’s what that balance looks like in practice:

1️⃣ At Work:
 Let Them lead the client presentation - they need the experience to grow.
 Let Me offer guidance and feedback beforehand.

2️⃣ In Leadership:
 Let Them make the decision, even if it carries risk.
 Let Me be available as a resource and mentor.

3️⃣ In Relationships:
 Let Them process in their own time.
 Let Me hold space with empathy and patience.

4️⃣ In Parenting:
 Let Them navigate their challenges.
 Let Me stay close enough to support, but not rescue.

This balance - between Let Them and Let Me - is the essence of conscious leadership.

 It’s what transforms control into trust, and power into empowerment.

And this same principle lies at the heart of self-advocacy - knowing when to speak up, when to step back, and how to honor both your boundaries and your voice.

The most important conversation you’ll ever have 
is the one you have with yourself.

Do you know whom you talk to the most?
Your children? 
Your colleagues? 
Your partner?

Truth is - it’s none of the above.

The person you talk to the most… is yourself.

We have anywhere from 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day (and double that on anxious days).

Most of those thoughts are part of an ongoing inner dialogue - the quiet voice narrating our lives.

Sometimes that voice is kind.
Other times, it’s critical, anxious, or doubting.

The video I’m sharing here captures this beautifully - a mom teaching her son how to talk to himself before climbing a wall. 

There are 2 ways to engage in self-talk:

➡️ Affirmative Self-Talk — “I can do this! I’m strong. I’ve got this!”
➡️ Interrogative Self-Talk — “How can I do my best? What can I focus on right now?”

Both can work. But they work in different ways.

Affirmations are powerful when you want to feel confident.

But when your mind doesn’t believe what you’re saying, a better approach might be to ask questions that engage your inner wisdom.

This is called Interrogative Self-Talk - 

and research by Kenji Noguchi, Ibrahim Senay, and Dolores Albarracín (University of Illinois) shows it’s more effective when we feel nervous or uncertain.

Questions activate curiosity and problem-solving - helping us feel resourceful instead of forced.

So the next time you’re facing something big - 
a presentation, a pitch, a climb - try asking:

✨ “How can I bring my best energy to this?”
✨ “What would it look like if this went well?”
✨ “What would my calmest, wisest self do next?”

You might just find that your mind starts offering the answers you need.

Because readiness doesn’t come from telling yourself you can -
It comes from asking yourself how you will.

When we rush to label, we stop learning.
Hold a little more space for surprise.

5️⃣ Build “Learning Rituals.”
Journal what you learned today - not what you did.
Ask your team at week’s end: “What stretched your thinking this week?”

Curiosity is not a soft skill.

Because the wisest leaders are not those with all the answers -

8 Laws to Help Optimize Your Success

Conscious people celebrate.

We’ve all heard of Schadenfreude -
the small, secret satisfaction that comes when someone else fails.

But there’s a lesser-known emotion
that reveals the highest form of emotional maturity -
and it might just be the secret to genuine happiness.

🌟 It’s called Freudenfreude. 🌟 
The joy we feel when someone else succeeds.
The ability to celebrate another person’s win
as if it were your own.

It’s natural to feel a twinge of comparison when someone else shines -
especially in a world that often treats success as a zero-sum game.

From classrooms to boardrooms,
we’re subtly conditioned to believe:
“If you win, I lose.”

But here’s what the science says 👇
➡️  A 2021 study found that practicing positive empathy -
the act of sharing in another person’s joy -

✅ boosts resilience, 
✅ strengthens relationships,
✅ and even enhances life satisfaction.

When we genuinely celebrate others,
our own well-being rises too.

➡️  Psychologist Dr. Catherine Chambliss calls this practice Freudenfreude Enhancement Training (FET).

Here are two powerful ways to cultivate it:

1️⃣ Practice “Shoy.”
When someone shares good news, go deeper.
Ask: “How do you feel? How will you celebrate?”
Active engagement amplifies shared joy.

2️⃣ Practice “Bragitude.”
Express gratitude to the person for letting you share their joy.
Say: “Thank you for telling me - it inspires me.”
Because gratitude multiplies joy in both directions.

✨ When we learn to celebrate others,
we step out of the cycle of comparison
and into a mindset of abundance.

The more you clap for others,
the more life claps back for you.

The greatest turning points in my career all had one thing in common: 
Someone believed in me 
before I believed in myself.

I remember vividly the. ...

Here’s what I've observed:
 👉 Titles don’t make leaders.
 👉 Authority doesn’t create growth.
 👉 Strategy alone doesn’t unlock potential.

What does? The courage to invest in people.
✨ Coach me, and I will learn.
✨ Challenge me, and I will grow.
✨ Believe in me, and I will win.

This is what true leadership looks like.

Not chasing titles. 
Not managing tasks alone. 
But also shaping human potential.

Your self-doubt doesn't make you weak. 
It shows you care about doing it well. 

We talk about confidence
as if it means having no doubt.

But the truth is -
the people who care the most, doubt the most.

Because they hold themselves to higher standards.
Because they want to get it right.
Because they lead with empathy, not ego.

That doubt before a new role, a big decision, a bold idea?
It’s not a sign you’re unready.
It’s a sign you care.

In the story, the young eagle asks:
🦅 “What if I fail?”
And the wise owl replies:
“Then you’ll learn what your wings are made of.
Doubt isn’t weakness - it’s awareness.”

But, it's also important to remember...

Confidence doesn’t come before action.
It comes from action.

Every time you try - even if you stumble -
you teach your wings how to trust the air beneath them.

This is what psychologists call The Confidence–Competence loop:
Act → Learn → Believe → Repeat.

Courage always comes first.
And for many women in leadership,
doubt doesn’t mean lack of confidence -
it’s the residue of being judged for tone, presence, or perfection for too long.

We’ve been taught to over-edit and overthink.
But not to trust our wings.

It’s time to change that story.

The sky doesn’t belong to the certain.
It belongs to the curious.
To those willing to fly before they feel ready.

Because confidence isn’t a prerequisite.
It’s a result.
