NSEF is India’s premier platform for educating, mentoring and supporting budding young social entrepreneurs and change-agents among leading academic institutions in the country.

As Director and later interim-CEO, led and oversaw all of NSEF’s activities, including setting up student-led NSEF chapters at over 40 universities, designing and executing educational workshops and lectures on social entrepreneurship, facilitating and judging business plan competitions for social ventures, administering the “Authors of Change” internship program to place college students at leading social enterprises, and mentoring student-led social impact start-ups.

Represented India at the UNESCO Summit on Entrepreneurship Education in Hangzhou, China (March 2013) and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (December 2013) aimed at creating an Asia-wide network for supporting entrepreneurship education for the youth

GSF Accelerator is India's first multi-city accelerator programme for early stage tech product startups and is backed by 20 leading founders/angel investors and 5 Funds.

 Curated and participated in the GSF World Expedition that took 10 start-ups, and 15 leading investors and advisors from India to 6 major entrepreneurial hubs around the world – London, Berlin, New York, Boston, San Francisco and Palo Alto – to facilitate a cross-border dialogue and exchange of best practices between the respective start-up eco-systems, and forge partnerships to support tech innovations globally

Managed the Bangalore centre’s activities including - sourcing and managing deal flow , working with the Investment Committee to select startups for investment and for the accelerator program, designing and implementing an intensive, workshop driven Accelerator program, and building GSF’s Mentor & Advisory network consisting of notable entrepreneurs, investors, and senior industry executives

Founding team member for Enable-D: A design-lab for incubating seed-stage social impact start-ups using design thinking as a catalyst for growth. As a founding team member, led all foundational activities including conceptualizing the idea, evangelizing the concept through talks and published articles at social impact conferences, pitching the idea to leading impact investors for the initial capital raise, forging partnerships with relevant stakeholders, sourcing and managing deal flow, and mentoring the first cohort of 5 start-ups for potential investment  (Note: Enable-D is currently not operational.) 

Led the pilot for Enable-D with its first targeted investee company – Spring Health, a social enterprise that delivers low-cost water in Eastern India – including creating its business and financial plan, and helping to raise over $2 million dollars in a Series-A round

And yet, research shows managers spend over 80% of their time on shallow work - “false progress” that looks busy but changes nothing.

So, how do you stop nibbling on rats and start hunting antelopes?

💡 5 conscious strategies to choose boldly:

1️⃣ Raise Your Standards
Stop defaulting to the easy yes. 
Ask: What’s the bigger, bolder version of this choice?

2️⃣ Upgrade Your Circle
Surround yourself with those who stretch your vision, 
not just validate your comfort.

3️⃣ Apply the Growth Filter
Before saying yes, ask: 
Will this help me grow - or just keep me in place?

4️⃣ Schedule Strategic Discomfort
Block time weekly for the task or idea that feels like a stretch. 
Protect that time.

5️⃣ Celebrate Boldness, Not Busyness
Reward courage over completion. 
Antelopes over checklists.

Because here’s the thing:
You weren’t meant to live in reaction.

Your growth isn't just about your effort.

A shark in a tank will stay small.
In the ocean, it thrives.

We’re the same.
Your growth depends on the environment you’re in - and the people you surround yourself with.

The research is clear:
➡️ Kurt Lewin, one of the founders of social psychology, showed that behavior is a direct function of the person and their environment.
➡️ Nicholas Christakis (Yale) and James Fowler (UC San Diego) found that even things like happiness, health habits, and resilience spread through social networks. 

As Jim Rohn said, you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

Who you spend time with shapes who you become.

Here are a few questions worth asking:
❓ Do the people around me expand or limit my thinking?
❓Am I encouraged to take risks and share ideas?
❓Does this space fuel learning, creativity, and possibility?
❓Am I becoming a better version of myself here?

If the answer is no - and you can change your environment - change it.

But sometimes change isn’t immediate or possible.
In that case, take ownership of your growth where you are:

✅  Curate what you consume → Select books, podcasts, and professional communities that expand your perspective and align with where you want to grow.

✅ Seek out mentors and peers beyond your circle → Build relationships across functions, industries, or levels. Exposure to diverse perspectives sharpens your thinking.

✅ Take on stretch assignments → Volunteer for projects that push your skills and visibility, even if they feel outside your comfort zone.

✅ Build growth rituals → Daily practices like reflection, journaling, or mindfulness help you stay resilient and intentional amid pressure.

✅ Invest in skill-building → Online courses, certifications, or professional workshops create momentum when your immediate role doesn’t.

✅ Set self-directed challenges → Define personal goals (e.g., presenting in meetings, publishing thought leadership, leading a cross-team initiative) that force you to expand.

Your environment shapes your growth - but your choices shape your future.

Upgrade your environment when you can.
Expand your growth when you must.

You don’t need to be great to start.

Before they were household names…

➡️ Netflix mailed DVDs.
➡️ Canva was for school yearbooks.
➡️ WhatsApp was for status updates.

Do you have an idea you've been sitting on?

Most people are waiting for clarity.
For confidence.

But confidence doesn’t come before you begin.
It comes because you begin.

Here are 5 simple ways to start before you're ready:

1. 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
Remove the pressure to “succeed.”
Instead ask: What might I learn if I tried?
How will I become if I do this? 

2. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵
Don’t wait to map it all out.
Just ask: What’s one small, bold move I can take this week?
The road appears as you walk it.

3. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲
Tell a friend. A mentor. Your LinkedIn network.
Speaking it aloud gives the idea shape and energy.

4. 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘆
Fear doesn’t mean stop. It means you're expanding.
Let that be the sign you’re on to something worth doing.

5. 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀
Your brain needs evidence that progress is happening.
Each email sent, sketch drawn, idea shared? That’s movement.
Celebrate it. Stack the momentum.

Do you know what people report as their #1 greatest fear? 

It’s not death….
It’s public speaking. 

And I get it - because for years, that fear held me back too.

When I stepped into 2025, I made a bold decision:
I would challenge myself to do 50 speaking engagements this year.

Not because I felt ready.
But because I knew growth only happens when you lean into discomfort.

Has it been easy? Absolutely not.
 ✨ Some audiences have loved what I had to share.
 ✨ Some talks landed with impact.
 ✨ And some… well, they fell flat.

There were moments I walked off stage questioning myself.

But every time, I came back to one reminder:
I can’t control the audience’s reaction.
I can control how I prepare, how I show up, and how I keep learning.

That shift- from fear of judgment to focus on growth - has been everything.

And along the way, these 11 strategies have become my saving grace.

1/ The 5-5-5 Rule 
→ Scan 5 faces; Hold each gaze for 5 seconds. 
→ Repeat every 5 minutes.
→ Creates an authentic connection.

2/Power Pause 
→ Dead silence for 3 seconds after key points.
→ Let your message land.

3/ The 3-Part Open 
→ Hook with a question. 
→ Share a story. 
→ State your promise. 

4/ Palm-Up Principle 
→ Open palms when speaking = trustworthy. 
→ Pointing fingers = confrontational. 

5/ The 90-Second Reset 
→ Feel nervous? Excuse yourself.
→ 90 seconds of deep breathing reset your nervous system.

6/ Rule of Three 
→ Structure key points in threes.
→ Our brains love patterns.

7/ 2-Minute Story Rule 
→ Keep stories under 2 minutes.
→ Any longer, you lose them.

8/ The Lighthouse Method 
→ Plant "anchor points" around the room.
→ Rotate eye contact between them.
→ Looks natural, feels structured.

9/ The Power Position 
→ Feet shoulder-width apart. 
→ Hands relaxed at sides. 
→ Projects confidence even when nervous.

10/ The Callback Technique 
→ Reference earlier points later in your talk. 
→ Creates a narrative thread. 
→ Audiences love connections. 

11/ The Rehearsal Truth 
→ Practice the opening 3x more than the rest. 
→ Nail the first 30 seconds; you'll nail the talk. 

Speaking isn't just talking. 
It's influence at scale. 

And a learnable skill that anyone can master to make an impact!
