I worked my way up over the next couple of years.

In early 2023, I started freelancing and a year later, quit my job to go full-time.
It was during this time I was introduced to the world of personal branding. 

Running personal brands for my clients was something I loved to do.
I started building my own in December 2023.

I had planned to freelance full-time for the foreseeable future.

Until I came across an opening for a dream role.

Starting May 2024, I will be the personal brand executive for Chris Donnelly.

There have been hundreds of times I've considered giving up on LinkedIn.

(and 2 times I have actually quit)

Staying consistent with my personal brand has been my biggest challenge.

Here are 5 things I do to ground myself during the hard times:


1. Reflect on the journey so far,
↳ Remind myself of the opportunities I wouldn't have had without it.

2. Go back to the drawing board,
↳ Realign my vision and goals to keep my eyes on the prize

3. Have a conversation with a friend,
↳ I talk through the obstacles with someone in the same lane.

4. Read through my favourite creator posts,
↳ I show myself where I could be if I refuse to give up.

5. Go through the comments sections of my posts,
↳ I look back on the people I've been able to help by simply posting my story.


Building a personal brand was never going to be easy.
Especially on a platform as complex as LinkedIn.

But it's the consistency that will determine the winners from the losers.

2 months ago, I quit my 9-5 job to become a full-time freelancer.

I didn't do it because:

→ It would make me the most money
→ I wanted to work on a beach in thailand
→ I wanted to escape the 'evil' corporate world 

That's not what motivated me to wake up every morning.

I did it for one reason.

𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁.

My current job was allowing me to live a comfortable, easy life. 

A life that offered no room for growth. 

As a freelancer I have to:

→ Turn up every day despite the lack of accountability 
→ Work for every single penny I make 
→ Learn how a business functions

It's a life that allows me to challenge myself in completely new ways. 

You should always be looking for the opportunity,
 that allows you to take yourself to that next level.
