PILLARS

The main objective of PILLARS is to provide policymakers and the public with information about what kind of (new) skills will be in demand and how to revise education and training systems to create opportunities to acquire them. Three main factors have predominantly shaped the European labour markets in the past decades and these factors will continue to influence them in the future: technological change, international trade and industrial transformation. The PILLARS project consists of ten partners, eight EU partners and one partner in China and Latin America. PILLARS will achieve its objectives through the combined efforts of these partners in three PILLARS.

•Joined the C-Suite as the only representative from the legacy Burning Glass team after a successful merger.
•Established and led the Data Science Council to develop innovative and breakthrough AI methods to real-time labor market data.  
•Established and led the Thought Leadership Council to create a new content framework based on monthly economic news releases and thought leadership reports, collaborating with Communication and Marketing teams. Earned media showed a 56% increase YoY.
•Restructured the Research and Thought Leadership team to increase its capacity and broaden its global market coverage beyond North America. Increased global mentions of the economics team and reports by 53% Y
•Partnered with business unit leaders to create content and AI models that enhanced Lightcast’s brand reputation and consumer growth and retention. Developed a delivered roadmap of over 23 data science projects, public dashboards, and reports for 22-23.
•Established strategic partnerships with prestigious organizations such as OECD, UNESCO, BCG, HBS, etc., producing joint reports and public dashboards on the labor market and future of work. Delivered over 35 presentations at events organized by G20, BLS, and European Commission.  
•Worked with researchers from leading universities on joint academic projects that resulted in multiple publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, ensuring that most researchers use Lightcast data (over 95%).

EVP, Chief Economist

•Built and managed a diverse team of over 20 data scientists, economists, and analysts from scratch, and created the internal infrastructure for identifying, mentoring, and training new hires across the research and data science organizations.
•Led and designed several data science and machine learning models on emerging skills, postings projections, estimated wages, normalized posting data, and a supply-demand model, contributing to all SaaS products of Burning Glass.
•Designed and built a longitudinal database of over 180m resumes from scratch in collaboration with the database development team. This was one of the first databases of online profiles ever created and utilized.
•Co-authored several influential reports with the World Economic Forum on the impact of AI and automation on jobs and skills, such as “The Future of Jobs Report 2020” and “Towards a Reskilling Revolution: Industry-Led Action for the Future of Work.”
•Established and maintained partnerships with major global organizations and institutions such as OECD, European Commission (JRC), World Economic Forum, CEDEFOP, BLS (ORS), Federal Reserve Board, IMF, ILO, IZA BEA, and UNESCO. Presented Burning Glass work to over 30 government entities, and large organizations, across Australia, Singapore, Europe, and the US.
•Collaborated on several research projects with leading consulting companies such as McKinsey, BCG, and Accenture, and non-profit organizations such as NESTA, Strada Education Network, Bertelsmann Stiftung, BHEF, and the Markle Foundation.
•Facilitated the collaboration of Burning Glass with the Conference Board as their main data provider after leading several months of discussions.
•Developed and maintained relationships with academic researchers from leading universities such as Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Northwestern, Yale, New York University, and Wharton School.

•Conducted and supervised research on emerging labor market trends and skill gaps using job postings and public data sources. 
•Applied advanced econometric and machine learning techniques to develop and enhance product features.

The Technological and Economic Change programme aims to identify the key technological disruptors and consider their impact on the global economy and society. The programme is unique in its approach of combining the expertise of leading scientists and technology experts with economists and social scientists.

The programme also works together with researchers from the School's Technology and Employment programme as part of a consortium on the Horizon 2020 funded 'Tecnnequality' research project. This research aims to understand how technological innovations affect the size and nature of social inequalities as well as the labour market outcomes in the EU. It also looks into policies and institutional configurations that will reduce technology-driven inequalities.

• Leaded, supervised, and managed projects across the spectrum of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR)
• Conducted statistical analyses of large scale consumer survey data, using advanced econometric methods such as Hierarchical Bayesian Analysis, in order to estimate Willingness to Pay (WTP) and simulate consumer’s demand 
• Estimated econometric models to measure pass-through rates and economic losses stemming from alleged price fixing attempts in the LCD industry
