Solid Wood Toronto is a full service design & build firm with a retail store specializing in design finish selections, furniture and accessories, residential and commercial remodelling, as well as new construction in the Greater Toronto Area.

As a required work term within George Brown College's Digital Media Postgraduate Certificate program, I was tasked with improving core business objectives of increased search engine traffic and lead generation through the company's existing Owned and Search marketing efforts.

Accomplishments:

1. Indexed the company website with Google, improved overall company website User Experience (UX) and SEO, and enhanced website performance following a comprehensive OMNI Channel Audit and HubSpot Website Grader evaluation. These actions resulted in a Unique Visitor traffic increase of 27% and 15 new leads generated through the site over two months post-launch

2. Using HubSpot's Website Grader tool, improved overall website performance score by 15% post-launch by rectifying grading categories of 'SEO' and 'Mobile'. These changes were implemented in order for Google to rank the website more prominently in the SERPs

3. Prepared five new Facebook Marketplace product advertisements, with one particular listing garnering 17 leads in over three weeks compared to a similar listing developed several months prior, which generated 3 leads in over one month

4. Compiled a database of, and executed an outreach campaign to 50+ Interior Designers in the GTA via email and LinkedIn. These actions resulted in 3+ new prospective partnership conversations

5. Received an overall "Outstanding" Supervisor Evaluation, stating that the company would both refer and hire me again

Marketing Lead (George Brown College Work Term)

Gowling WLG

Gowling WLG is an international, sector-focused law firm with more than 1,500 legal professionals around the world.

Accomplishments:

1. Developed, and monitored a project workback schedule for the launch of Ticket Management platform, TicketManager, introduced in the Toronto office to allow for more efficient management of sports tickets. This led to timelines being easily tracked and adjusted as the project was launched in just over two months following onboarding

2. Prepared event invitations/registration surveys for over five internal/client events and campaigns held in Toronto, leading to ease of communication and execution with each event target audience

3. Prepared, tested, and polished weekly and monthly departmental newsletters released to all professionals office-wide. This was important so that all Toronto office personnel were informed of the latest happenings within the firm on a regular basis, and value of Business Development and Marketing efforts were displayed

4. Coordinated the completion of a project plan developed for the inaugural Toronto Alumni Event and was involved from planning through execution. The event received very high acclaim from law firm professionals, law firm alumni, and management who were in attendance

5. Compiled and extracted client data/reports from CRM platform, InterAction, on an ongoing basis. This allowed for ease of handling weekly requests related to retrieving data important to management

Business Development & Marketing Coordinator

Phillips Moving & Storage

Since April 2018, I took on a more active role at Phillips as the in-house Marketing Coordinator, within the company's marketing portfolio.

Accomplishments:

1. Oversaw a business-wide rebranding as the company transitioned van line affiliations over a four month timeline, and completed the project roughly two weeks ahead of schedule

2. Created and deployed four different monthly e-newsletters to an audience of 500+ comprised of moving industry agents and satisfied customers, increasing 'top of mind' brand awareness, and raising the Phillips brand profile

3. Grew the company's Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn followings by 7%, 15%, and 56% respectively, through the creation of and adherence to a fresh, weekly (custom) content release schedule

4. Developed and coordinated the creation of three new company radio spot ads which aired on AM640 Radio, increasing brand awareness within the GTA market

5. Produced new weekly custom social media content and introduced an industry-related initiative for the company blog, designed to grow Phillips' social media community

6. Monitored the company’s annual marketing portfolio budget, evaluating allocation for effective low-cost marketing opportunities with surplus funds

7. Prepared and tracked 20+ monthly Sales Pipeline reports, in order to determine success of the company’s major KPI’s, often outperforming the main industry benchmark

Marketing Coordinator

Phillips Moving & Storage began in 1923 as an original family-operated local moving company based out of Toronto. Phillips is one of the longest running full service local, national and international moving companies in Canada, and was the Toronto household agent for North American Van Lines (NAVL) prior to June 2019, one of the largest van lines in the world.

Since December of 2015, I have been freelancing with Phillips to produce a monthly e-newsletter which is circulated to Canadian and US moving agents. Since its implementation for the inaugural release in January 2016, I have utilized the email marketing service, Constant Contact, for the deployment and measurement of the newsletter each month.

Accomplishments:

1. Achieved 2017 and 2018 “All Star” status from email marketing service, Constant Contact, based on overall mailing list outreach and engagement strength (achieved by 10% of Constant Contact customers)

2. Prepared organization-branded pitch decks to be presented to moving agents within the van line network, and received positive feedback on the design of the decks by agents pitched

Association of Corporate Counsel

The ACC is a global bar association that promotes the common professional and business interests of in-house counsel through information, education, networking opportunities, and advocacy initiatives.

Accomplishments:

1. Designed, deployed, and monitored more than 80 promotional campaigns for various initiatives and events held in Ontario

2. Implemented new event registration system, Cvent, which eliminated multiple inefficiencies and errors throughout the event registration process

3. Consistently maintained and developed the Chapter web page to inform key stakeholders on current, and ongoing news/updates

4. Facilitated, and produced more than five Chapter specific programs/meetings via Zoom Webinar and Meeting functions

5. Created eight Regional Listservs for members and prospects segmented by geographic region in Ontario, resulting in greater personalization of marketing communications

6. Housed over five virtual Continuing Legal Education recordings on a newly created YouTube Channel, accessible to the Chapters’ 800+ members, and which improved branding consistency

7. Refreshed Chapter branding through the redesign of marketing collateral, including two newly designed Chapter tablecloths, three retractable banners, two virtual webinar backdrops, and the revival of an interactive quarterly Chapter newsletter

Add Impact Inc. is a small-sized corporate branding and incentive marketing company that aims to provide all of its various clients with innovative solutions that provide a rewarding experience. In addition, the organization is also quite involved in the local and global community, as a sponsor and supporter of organizations ranging from the Vaughan Food Bank, to World Vision.

Over the course of nearly two months, I assisted both Add Impact's Distribution Centre and Head Office with preparing/completing small to large client projects as well as with order management/administration respectively, during a busy end-of-year rush period. Below are some of my responsibilities/accomplishments from my time spent there:

1. Coordinated with over 10 of Add Impact's suppliers to meet deadlines within the ordering process for multiple clients

2. Assisted with and personally contributed to the completion of more than five client projects over a six week period, meeting or exceeding all client deadlines

3. Organized and completed all outstanding accounts receivable and payable invoice filing for clients and vendors

Currently in its second year of operations, the NMSA continues to provide members and students benefits through networking opportunities with industry professionals, providing hands-on experience, and easing the transition between academic and extracurricular activities. In addition, a newly introduced extension to our current mission is to allow students networking opportunities with past marketing alumni from the BAS program, who now hold positions in many well known companies and agencies. In conjunction with my role of maintaining a vision and strategy which allowed for increased growth of the association, responsibilities and achievements included:

1. Selected 14 executive team members for the 2014-2015 year after screening and interviewing a total of 21 applicants

2. Lead an executive team of 14 in planning and executing five developmental events in addition to four separate online initiatives, which resulted in attendance ranging from 20 to 80+ students

3. Monitored the development, launch, and maintenance of a fully integrative website, resulting in a first page SEO ranking on all search engines with over 3,300 unique visits to the site in under eight months

4. Managed and evaluated performance of the Human Relations, Marketing, Sponsorship, Finance and Events portfolios

5. Effective promotional strategies and word-of-mouth raised student memberships by over 50% from the previous year

6. Added LinkedIn to NMSA's mix of social media and communication channels to attract prospective partners and members

7. Created a consulting services program to be offered to other student-run clubs and organizations seeking assistance with their marketing efforts and campaigns

8. Fostered and maintained seven partnerships/sponsorships, roughly on par with the amount from the previous academic year

Co-President

George Brown College

The Industry Liaison Office (ILO) at George Brown College, as part of the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies (CCET) is the intermediary which connects students with industry professionals and other people and resources at the college. The services provided by the ILO include the facilitation and coordination of multiple guest speaker events, information sessions, Co-op Work Term placements and Career Fairs throughout the year. These services result in many students gaining valuable work experience prior to graduation as well as the opportunity to foster mutually beneficial and long-term relationships with the ILO's extensive list of industry partners.

As part of my 10 week contract within the ILO, my duties mainly involved administrative support to my five other team members as well as business development maintenance of an industry partners database. Some of my responsibilities as part of this role included:

1. The updating and maintenance of the ILO's master database containing over 2,000 industry partners from fields such as construction, architecture and engineering

2. Took part in the planning and co-coordination of two major events during the Winter 2016 semester which were the CCET annual Career Fair as well as the CCET incoming student Orientation (over 400 and 120 student registrants respectively)

3. Took part in the co-coordination and organization of five information sessions from companies and associations including BIRD Construction, Aecon, and CanBIM (between 20 to 60 student attendees present at each event)

4. Lead groups between three to five ILO student volunteers for the two major events listed above

Accomplishments:

1. Grew the size of the existing industry partners database by over 5% by the end of the contract period

Industry Liaison Officer

School of Administrative Studies

I served as a Teaching Assistant at York University for an Applied Marketing Management course in the Administrative Studies Marketing program. The role of the Teaching Assistant in this class revolves around the oversight of students' progress throughout the marketing plan project, ensuring that groups are on track with all required deliverables and deadlines during the term. In this particular project, students prepare comprehensive marketing plans for and present to real clients (for profit and not-for-profit) from different industries who require assistance with their marketing efforts.

Below were some of my personal responsibilities:

1. Reviewed and analyzed six prospective client marketing plan proposals, making a joint decision with the professor to either accept or forego acceptance for the project prior to the start of each semester

2. Mentored and guided 92 students from three classes for the marketing plan project during the academic year

3. Coordinated with marketing plan clients to ensure that arrangements were prepared in advance of in-class appearances

4. Provided feedback to and graded 16 groups on mandatory reports submitted multiple times during the course

5. Personally created a Project Management spreadsheet and monitored progress in terms of deadlines and action items, often exceeding set deadlines

6. Addressed project uncertainties for students and monitored team dynamics on an ongoing basis

Accomplishments:

1. Marketing plan clients were left impressed by students' final presentations, stating interest to implement suggested marketing strategies into their businesses

2. Received recognition from students and clients for my efforts, along with the professor, at the Experiential Education Awards in May 2016

Branden is a creator of memorable experiences by bridging the gap between brands and the target audience, leading to mutually beneficial relationships. He has accomplished this through his unique blend of email marketing, social media, and market analysis. Possessing over five years of marketing communications experience, Branden imbues a solid understanding of marketing technology tools including Constant Contact, Cvent, and Hootsuite. This has allowed him to efficiently offer companies an improved brand image due to his his drive to remain adaptable in learning new marketing platforms/processes quickly, and through the conceptualization to implementation of tailor-made digital marketing initiatives.

Outside of work and marketing, Branden maintains a deep love and passion for music, based on previous and current involvement in (big) band and R&B ensembles within Toronto. Aside from this, he also makes time to enjoy training in martial arts.
