When I was in college, I got a part-time job cold-calling businesses to sell them natural gas. It was hard. Interrupting their day and trying to pitch a product that was highly commoditized. Not easy. That part-time job turned into a successful 15 year career at that company. I went from Sales Rep, to Sales Manager, to VP of Sales & Marketing. Over that span, we grew the company to 125,000 customers and $600 million in annual revenue. In 2014, I hit a wall. I burned out. I wasn’t having fun anymore, and didn’t even realize it. I left the company in 2014. I left behind a high-paying job. I had a two-year old daughter at the time. Thankfully, my family lived below our means so we had some financial runway to buy time for me to launch my own company. I spent 2 years working with startup companies in Gainesville, FL. I consulted, did some fractional sales, but more than anything….I networked like crazy. In 2016, we had a lightbulb moment. What if we launched a company that supported the sales growth of startups by employing college students as an outsourced sales support team? We launched The Selling Factory in October 2016. The Selling Factory is a Sales Apprenticeship program for college students. Giving them real world experience, working with real companies that have real-life sales expectations. 7 years later, we’ve employed nearly 1,000 college students, helped over 150 companies, and are about to hit $5 million in revenue. We did $317.56 in revenue in 2016! (HAHA) We’ve since launched two more companies on the back of The Selling Factory. *TSF PLACEMENT, where we match college graduates with companies that need experienced, talented, and motivated top performers. We take the guesswork out of hiring entry-level sales representatives at scale. How? Because we know them.
