Railsbank is building a global transactional banking platform without a banking license. We make it easy for fintech startups, traditional financial services providers and brands to develop, launch and scale innovative financial products. 

At Railsbank, I had a duel role; managing and growing our partner network of banks and ultimate responsibility for marketing globally. During my time at Railsbank, we grew from 7 to 90 people, increased MRR 10x, expanded to SE Asia and USA, were named Best Startup at Web Summit's MoneyConf, became a Visa Issuer and raised a Series A. I closed deals with US and Australian banking partners and worked with the VP of Sales to build a whole new marketing/sales process as we scaled that resulted in sales cycles to improve by 80%.

VP of Partnerships and Marketing

dopay

dopay, a Techstars company, is building the digital bank of the future, leading with a B2B2C retail banking proposition - acquiring retail customers through employers payroll in emerging markets.

Primary responsibility for dopay's growth - sales, marketing and partnerships. Joint responsibility with CEO for fundraising and investor relations.

- Grew sales team from 0 to 20 people, whilst reducing CAC by more than 100x
- Built business from 0 customers pre-launch to signing 30+ companies per week through a hybrid of digital and physical channels within the first 12 months
- Implemented CRMs, marketing automation and cloud diallers and other technologies to scale funnel throughput between multiple locations and time zones
- Led process development to scale sales process along with growth of marketing funnel
- Personally led and executed marketing efforts to grow inbound leads from 0 to 25+ per hour within first 12 months
- Raised $12m from US and European VCs and Angel Investors

Chief Partnerships Officer

NoviCap

Nominated to the board of NoviCap by Techstars Ventures. 

NoviCap provides invoice finance in a fast, flexible, and transparent way while offering professional investors the opportunity to invest in a short-term asset yielding above-average returns.

Powered by an automated machine-learning algorithm, NoviCap operates at a significantly lower cost than traditional finance providers. NoviCap then passes these cost savings to both the businesses and investors.

Focused on early and growth stage equity investments in emerging markets including Russia, Poland, Turkey, North Africa and elsewhere in Central Europe.  

My portfolio companies were primarily non-bank financial institutions and fintech companies, from seed to mature stage. Specific industry experience in non-bank lenders, payments, mobile wallets, insurance, factoring and distressed debt.

Participated in all stages of the deal cycle, including sector coverage, origination, due diligence, financial modelling, valuation analysis, negotiations, structuring and post-investment management.

My focus at the EBRD has been to focus on some of the more esoteric investments of the EBRD.  These investments include Russia's first online-only insurer, an innovative startup SME lending platform in Turkey and a NPL collection platform that has grown from a shell to a top 2 company by leveraging big data.

TAM FAKTORING A.Ş.

Tam Faktoring is a startup funded by EBRD in partnership with Actera, a leading PE fund in Turkey.  It provides factoring services to MSMEs through mobile, online and a branch network. Tam was established to target the MSME segment, which was underserved by banks and existing factoring companies. By utilising innovative distribution, product development and credit scoring, Tam became a top 3 factoring company by number of customers within two and a half years of starting.

TurkAsset began as a startup and is now a leading Turkish integrated non-performing debt purchase and collection platform. It uses global industry-leading technologies (big data, analytics), combined with best practice collection techniques to recover bad debt in a fair and transparent way.

Ernst & Young

Audit, primarily for non-bank financial institutions, including insurers, pension funds and asset managers.  Also, meaningful exposure to banks and mining clients, many of whom were listed.

Responsibilities included maintaining relationships with key management, assesment of risks, understanding of processes and financial reporting.
