An old college buddy of an agency VP let us have a shot at pitching Square Enix. While I’ve been a lifelong gamer, the electricity I felt while coming up with concepts for introducing the first in a new trilogy for an IP like Tomb Raider… it was palpable. I’d chase that high for another 2 years after taking a detour into the B2B space supporting the development of a Sales & Marketing org selling data-driven marketing solutions to senior housing providers. ✘ COVID would break down geographical barriers that I had fought after staying at a state school in the middle of the country, in an area that has been completely overlooked for employee talent who might know a thing or two about gaming and esports. I was fortunate to take some contract work for Ayzenberg out of Pasadena to lead talent campaigns for Xbox Game Pass and Intel Gaming, doing everything from discovery to creative strategy to reporting.
