FUN FACT: 2019 was 5 years ago. 

(I know, I know. That seems like it was last year)

I've decided not to focus on what I look like in my photos (that makes me awkward and squeamish... and I know I'm not alone on this feeling!)

But instead, I focus on the technical elements:
📷 Is it well lit?

📷 Do the colors I've worn look good on camera. (PRO TIP: wear a different color every time you get a new headshot photo, so you'll remember what year the photo was captured in)

𝗪𝗵𝘆? 𝗧𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗼𝗹𝗱-𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗢𝗠𝗢:

While I've offered a LOT of free sessions over the years, including:
• Office Hours
• Webinars
• Masterclasses & more

I realized that most people attending my free events were 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 signing up for my paid programs or services. And you know what? 𝗔𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿, 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸. YIKES!  😲

As a marketer, I realized I wasn't doing a good enough job of serving up relevant, valuable offers to ask people to buy from me. (I fell into that "people pleaser" trap of offering more and more FREE!)

That's why I recently started shifting some of my free events to "members-only" events. 

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 "𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲," I'll be mentioning a paid service or program during the event. You should do this too, if you're self-employed. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.

And for those wondering: this was my second take, and no, I did not use a script. The more often you do a video, the less you will need to rely on using a script. Feels more conversational, wouldn’t you agree?

Any other coaches / consultants feeling a bit TIRED today? No? Just me! I know why. We held a 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗙𝗧 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘-𝗔-𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗻 event on Saturday, a day when I'm normally moving a bit more slowly. Sipping on coffee. Walking Pepper. 🐾 But this Saturday, I was serving as emcee / host / facilitator AND dealing with some tech issues (Figured it out: My 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗔𝗗! 🤬)

But I didn't let it throw me off. I put on a smiling face. Grinned through it. 

Told our audience what was happening. And at the end, decided to move off of hosting from my laptop to hosting from my phone. 

And doing so, I showed a framed dollar bill that's typically just out of video view.

This was a gift from my husband Chris Meller. I think he gave it to me in 2017, the year I left corporate. 

It reads:

"People first, then money, then things.
Turn one dollar into a million dollars.
Merry Christmas, Sweetie. 
Love, Chris"
