Department of Transport and Main Roads

This role was within the Safer Roads section of the Land Transport division of the Department of Transport and Main Roads. It is a temporary contract being conducted on a part time basis, whilst fulfilling university commitments. 

The following accountabilities were included in this role:

•	Providing authoritative road safety engineering advice to senior staff and internal and external stakeholders.
•	Facilitating the transfer of road safety engineering knowledge and practice within TMR and with key partnering organisations.
•	Developing strong, positive, and productive relationships with other government agencies, local governments, and other key stakeholders.
•	Providing technical advice on the development and assessment of road safety engineering practices and programs.
•	Influencing road safety technical governance in areas of systems, legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
•	Supporting the development of strategies, policies, systems, and guidelines to improve the safety performance of Queensland’s road network in a technical governance framework.
•	Undertake the role in accordance with the requirements of s26(1) of the Public Service Act 2008 and always ensure that the principles as found in the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service are up held in the carrying out of all duties.
•	This role reports to the Director (Safer Roads).

My role involves the management of surfacing contracts with Downer Edi Brisbane & Darwin, taking these projects from the tender process through to the end of the defects liability period.

My role involves the management of contracts in the construction department of ACL, taken these contracts from the tender process through to the end of the defects liability period. At any one time ACL construction department has between 6 to 9 contracts valued between $200,000 to $3 million with a total claim value of approx. $2 to $4 million per month.

My role involved the Management and delivery of the companies projects, from tendering to defects liability. My role also involved managing business development for the company. At any one time Niepe had 5 - 6 projects in Brisbane, Roma area and Northern NSW with a total claim value of approx. $1.5 to $2 million per month.

Shadforths Civil Engineering Contractors

My role involved onsite Project Management and delivery of the construction phase of civil engineering projects throughout QLD. At present I was responsible for the construction and delivery of 2 road work projects for the Central Highland Regional Council and 1 road work project for the Department of Main Roads, Roma region.

LDI Constructions

This role involves onsite management and delivery of the construction phase of civil engineering projects. We are involved from the planning and scheduling stage until the end of the liability period of the project. As project engineer I have been involved in roadworks, earthworks, pipelines and structures projects.

This role involved the management and delivery of the design phase of telecommunication towers throughout QLD. In this role I was involved in the design or modification of lattice towers, monopole and rooftop structures on the Telstra network.

A practical, common-sense thinking Engineer, taking a Modern Approach to a Traditional Industry. My 16 years' experience on both the Consulting and Contractor sides has identified gaps with this industry, such as; Consultant/Contractor Conflict, High Project Redundancy, High Client Risk, Poor Contractor/Client Communication, Corporation-Centered Approach to Projects, Over-Engineering. As Owner and Managing Director of JC Engineers, I have developed a modular approach to Engineering Design & Construction Project delivery that has proven successful time-and-time again.

Successfully delivering Engineering Design and Construction Contracts through QLD (Regional & Urban), NT, NSW and New Zealand provides comprehensive experience. Achieving Bachelor & Masters qualifications in Engineering and RPEQ, CPEng, Int (PE), APEC Engineer accreditation provides a great depth of knowledge of Engineering principles and the industry.
