I am a problem solver and a litigator. I help a diverse group of business owners resolve commercial, corporate, and governmental disputes. And I enjoy doing it. In my 20+ years as a lawyer, I have learned that all disputes are personal and that there is no one formula for resolving them. While I draw on my experience, I commit to looking at each new business and each new dispute with fresh eyes. I also focus my efforts on achieving my client’s strategic objectives. A “win” at trial is only a win for my client if it meets their business needs. My clients call me whenever their business is under threat, whether it stems from an internal fight over control or governance, a partner who has not held up his end of the bargain, or a rift with a customer or competitor. I am also passionate about the legal profession itself and its ability to effect change. For that reason, I am active in pro bono matters and related professional activities. I recently served as lead counsel to the United States Conference of Mayors in litigation challenging the Attorney General's nationwide imposition of immigration-related conditions on the receipt by cities across the country of federal law enforcement grants. I also serve on the governing board of Legal Aid Chicago, the largest provider in Chicago of free, non-criminal legal services to those living in poverty.
