My current interests include: - Helping people in business understand cash, profit, growth, and the financial concepts they need - Exploring ways to extend healthy life, for myself and the community - Using technology to solve the Literacy crisis in the west and worldwide - Expanding the use of experiential learning online for companies and in education I have recently started to provide live online coaching in business acumen, for business owners and managers; helping them make sense of the accountants and finance people, clearing up their misunderstandings, and leading them to better decisions about the running and growth of their business. I am a founder of ProfitAbility and one of the creative forces in the development of learning-by-doing training. I analyse client challenges and recommend learning solutions that deliver business results through a blend of live online sessions, classroom exercises, on the job tasks and self-paced interactive learning. The content varies widely. By using high engagement, active learning approaches and focusing on application on the job, we deliver real business results. The pandemic moved a lot of training out of the classroom and online, and much of what has been transferred is poor in learner interactivity, and unexciting. We have focused our efforts on re-creating the levels of personal engagement we had in the classroom during live online interactions, and have had several clients say that the online training has surpassed the excellent results they had before. This is equally true in work to develop trust, collaboration and teamwork in remote teams, and in hard skills such as pricing and financial acumen. I have worked with big companies worldwide, on many successful training projects. I have a lifelong obsession with the mind and learning, whether physical skills such as juggling and water sports, or thinking skills and knowledge. I am a language nut (who else would study Esperanto, Chinese and Hindi?) and a musician, playing the electronic clarinet (EWI) in my spare time. I would like to meet people making major changes in their organisations, sharing ideas about best practice to improve business results through creating a more human environment with high trust and engagement.
