Web development began as a hobby for me and grew into a passion that couldn't be ignored. After various sales positions in different industries, I decided to jump in the deep end and start my own development company. This turned out to be a huge success and I continue to get referrals from past clients. Now in the US I joined Adweek and worked on some of the highest traffic sites I've ever touched. I was the only web developer tasked with the rebuild of Adweek.com. This was a huge honor and incredible experience moving the site from an outdated Drupal install to WordPress with a number of custom plugins and a custom responsive theme. I was also on a small team that rebuilt Mediabistro.com, updating the site from an ASP centric system to WordPress. This site also required several custom plugins and a responsive theme. After growing up in South Africa and Switzerland, and studying in the US, I began my professional career in Singapore and found my passion back in South Africa. As you can tell, I am a very international person who has interacted with many different cultures and people. My life's experience so far has taught me to be very open-minded and constantly flexible to the possibilities of the Global Economy. It has also shown me that attention to detail and effective communication can lead to much success in development. I am a generalist full stack developer with sound backend logic and an eye for pixel perfect frontend.
