I'm responsible for the Search Team and Product Discovery team, which includes services such as Search (Elasticsearch), Recommendations, Buy Again functionality, Favorites, and more. Nearly 85% of adds-to-cart (and associated revenue) come through the services for which I am responsible. I am also responsible for our state-of-the-art product system, which uses some revolutionary ideas to provide product data to our external and internal users at blazing fast speeds, while maintaining accuracy and preventing bifurcation of data payloads.

Upgraded spaghetti-code API to modern framework, overhauled codebase and achieved 100% unit test coverage. Oversaw the construction of feed processing engine from scratch, serving 100 feeds to Roku, Apple, and Amazon to power their Universal Search platforms, also with 100% unit test coverage. Manage client-developer relations between Turner Networks, Apple, Amazon, Roku, Tribeca Shortlist (Lionsgate), and WWE.

Architected logging system using ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) stack, creating robust system for logging. Completely revamped billing system to be scalable, consistent, predictable, and flexible, increasing recurring revenue and decreasing costs and engineering time across the board. In the process of building CASS certified (US Postal Service) software.

Nerd Nite SF

Nerd Nite has a simple premise: get really, really smart people together, give them beer, and let them talk about their passions. For my second Nerd Nite presentation, I spoke about something I think about way too much: addresses. How do we take inputs on a website and split them up into their address components? How do we take that data and put it on a map? What is up with the crazy no-mailbox land known as Carmel-by-the-sea, CA?

It, too, received rave reviews, and @djalphabravo said, "this was even better than the hearing loss talk."

Zillow

Managed our B2C app for rental investors and landlords, Postlets.com, on all development aspects, as well as the internal Malone project (see below). Under my leadership, Postlets grew to nearly 35% of all rental listings for Zillow, as well as introducing a suite of new features, including video upload on iOS and lead management tools.

Engineering Manager

Build an address-cleansing, de-duplication, and geocoding service code-named Malone from scratch that identified millions of duplicates across Zillow Rentals. Under my leadership, Malone grew from 50K requests per day to nearly 1M requests per hour. The project was so successful on the Rentals team that it saw widespread adoption by the entire Zillow Group by the end of 2014.

In August, I gave a presentation on hearing loss and what it sounds like, as well as the amazing technology in the 21st century that allows the hard-of-hearing to function more normally in society. It received rave reviews, and according to @djalphabravo, was the "best talk [he's] ever seen."

RentJuice

RentJuice (now defunct) was a CRM for property managers and brokers in the major metro areas across the US. Responsible for front-end and back-end bug fixes and features. My work involved fixing every bug I could find, bringing customer reports down over 95%, freeing up our entire team to work on new features.

I led development on web sites for small businesses, often tackling three or more websites concurrently. My work included both front end (HTML, CSS, Javascript) and back end (PHP, MySQL), and I worked closely with the product manager to ensure the websites were delivered on time and to the customer's satisfaction.

I'm a full-stack software engineer and tech manager, with experience leading product development teams. Not only do I write a lot of code, I push my team to work harder, faster, and more effectively on all fronts. I aim to make my teams the most successful.
