I work for technology companies that make life better. 

My litmus test for a tech company- can you explain what it does, in a single sentence, to your Mom? 

Clazar- we help B2B SaaS companies launch and manage their cloud marketplace (AWS, Google, Azure) offerings. 

Prior to Clazar: 

- airSlate- we digitize paper workflows and make it easy to create them. 
- HelloSign (now part of DropBox)- made it incredibly easy to electronically sign documents. 
- Webmetrics- we monitored and tested websites to make sure they were available and performing well.
- PowerReviews- consumer written reviews that helped other e-commerce shoppers decide if a product was worth buying.
-SLI Systems- powered on-site search so you could make sure you found the relevant products on e-commerce websites.

Invest in your network before you need your network. 

"Hey Brian, I know we haven't talked in 12 years but can you help me get a new job?"

"We haven't talked before, but I see that you are connected on Linked in with the CEO of XYZ. Could you connect me with her?"

I want to help people, especially people I've worked with in the past. 

But some people make it a whole lot easier to help them than others. 

They are the people who invest in relationships and their networks. They text, they comment, they check in. 

They don't just pop up when they need something. 

They are the ones who give generously and without expectation of something in return. 

Be that person and you will get all the help you need.

Last night I watched this 74-year old man rock the house for 3+ hours in Vegas.

I had no idea he was playing here until yesterday. I’ve always heard Bruce puts on an amazing show so my buddy Tony and I grabbed tickets.

Fantastic decision.

The guy has been doing this for more than half a century. He doesn’t need the money.

But you see the pure joy and enthusiasm when he gets out on stage. The love he has for his band. The genuine appreciation for his audience.

Just a truly great life experience to be able to witness this.

I'm betting on two things today. 

1. A 5 seed will lose to a 12 (be wary, Gonzaga fans). 
2. Cloud Marketplaces are going to drive tens of billions of dollars this year.

I'm not sure if Jay McBain and Trunal Bhanse have tips on item #1, but they are two of the ten smartest people on the planet regarding item #2. 

And I'm hosting a webinar with them today. 

I will pull myself away from the Sports book at Ellis Island Casino (where the true high rollers go, not Venetian or Bellagio) to spend an hour with Jay and Trunal. 

If you are a revenue leader at a b2b SaaS company, you won't want to miss this. 

Because you might lose money on a last minute buzzer beater, but you don't want to lose money by missing out on Cloud Marketplaces.....

When you get a chance to meet your customers in person, you do it.

Austin is kind of on the way home from Washington, D.C. so I stopped by the Data Conference.

It was awesome to see 5 Clazar customers as event sponsors.

Plus, I got to hang out with Ville Tuulos  from Outerbounds. We are so proud to have helped them with their recent achievement of launching on all 3 Cloud Maretplaces (Amazon Web Services (AWS) , Google  and Microsoft )!

We are seeing more and more customers moving beyond an initial Cloud Marketplace - exciting trend!

Great!

I mean that genuinely. I’m not for everybody.

I’ve hired hundreds of people in my career. Most of them have worked out really well.

But there have been some misses. And I regret every single one. 

Because I messed up. There was misalignment during the hiring process.

I always want new hires to first meet people who are  currently on the team. Ask them about they do and don’t like about working with me. No surprises.

It doesn’t do anyone any good to pretend to be something they are not during the interview process. It has to work for both sides.

And if my style and LinkedIn posts aren’t a match for what someone is looking for, I figure we both saved some time.
