Acted as a quality assurance representative aboard USS George HW Bush, overseeing over 1500 maintenance hours in the troubleshooting and repair of 50 pieces of optical equipment. Awarded Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Aviation Electronic Technician

Led a team of 15 people conducting inbound over the phone billing and technical support for the second-largest telecommunications provider in the country. Trained and coached team to meet call metrics such as handle time, after call work, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction. Conducted weekly meetings to build team cohesion and cover trends and performance. Repeatedly recognized as a top-performing team in the organization.

Technical Support Supervisor

Goal: Meet new people who inspire. Learn new skills that empower. Travel to places that intrigue. Build a life that grants financial independence while doing the work I find meaningful.

I just moved back to my hometown of Boise Idaho.

My first move to get plugged into the veteran SMB community is to do what I do best - host a meetup.

I sent 150 cold emails to local business owners and got 20 reservations in the first 48 hours.

Just above physiological needs and safety on Maslow's hierarchy is belonging - love.

This is thrust upon you in service without much effort. It's not uncommon for senior enlisted to host multiples of their subordinates for holidays, events, and basic life events.

Outside of service, you're automatically opted out. It requires effort - not a lot, but some - to get plugged in people of similar skills, interest, or industry.

A place I've found meaningful connection in each of these areas are peer groups. My good friend Barrett Y. Bogue recently attended a session we hosted on building business processes. In conjunction, he wrote a great article on the power of the peers.

It can be an exceedingly lonely place at the intersection of veteran and CEO, but it doesn't have to be.

Find your people. Put yourself out there. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and make connections. The rewards are always returned tenfold.
