Acted as a quality assurance representative aboard USS George HW Bush, overseeing over 1500 maintenance hours in the troubleshooting and repair of 50 pieces of optical equipment. Awarded Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Aviation Electronic Technician

Led a team of 15 people conducting inbound over the phone billing and technical support for the second-largest telecommunications provider in the country. Trained and coached team to meet call metrics such as handle time, after call work, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction. Conducted weekly meetings to build team cohesion and cover trends and performance. Repeatedly recognized as a top-performing team in the organization.

Been a while since I’ve reintroduced myself.

My name is Brock. 

After four years leading a team in a high volume contact center, I joined the Navy.

Military runs deep in the family, but that wasn’t why I joined. My life wasn’t headed in a good direction. Really not good.

I wake up thankful every day I saw the smallest glimpse of something better that got me down to the recruiting office.

I served four years as an aviation electronics technician working on infrared and targeting for F18s. Think of the black and white image you see from the C130 dropping bombs in Call of Duty.

Deployed once on the USD George HW Bush. Met some lifelong friends including my now wife (crew served weapons instructor). Saw parts of the world most never will.

In addition to learning valuable lessons in leadership and work ethic, my ego was crushed which allowed for a much more humble and patient man to emerge. Much needed.

Eager to move faster in life, exited and went back to school (dropped out first time). Undergrad in finance, masters in data science. 

During school I worked as a data analyst for a large government contractor. 

Around this time I started a podcast interviewing veterans with a focus on business owners. I was and continue to be fascinated with the contribution veterans have made in the business world (think Sam Walton, Phil Knight, Les Schwab, etc). This not only help me process my time in service but give me exposure to new things like entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA).

I was connected with a Navy vet who did ETA after his time at HBS and I asked him if I could come work as his Chief of Staff. It worked out and led to 18 months of pure adrenaline, high intensity work that probably put me 10 years ahead.

My time ended with leading two simultaneous M&A transactions into the 8 figure range. Doing everything from due diligence to the investor presentations for our PE sponsor was indescribably valuable.

I’m now searching for a high quality business to buy backed by a single sponsor. 

I live in Boise Idaho with my wife and two kids (2 and 4 months) and working to give them everything. 

I love connecting with folks here, particularly veterans. If I can be helpful in anyway, my DMs are always open. I write semi regularly sharing advice for vets and search.
