After thoughtful reflection, my wife and I decided that our collective theme for 2023 would be to seek opportunities for giving back. This was a very fulfilling time to pay it forward by helping others.

• Partnering with CIOs Against Cancer to raise money for cancer research.
• Mentoring young business leaders via Menttium Mentoring Program, as well as independently.
• Coaching and developing high school students with skills related to networking and career planning.
• Partnering with Duquesne University and it’s senior class to provide guidance and insight regarding technology challenges, trends, and best practices. 
• Leveraging the "Not Me!" curriculum to teach assault prevention at local high schools and businesses.
• Assisting colleagues with branding blueprints and marketing artifacts in support of their transition journey.

Medtronic

CIO for Clinical function with responsibility for all aspects of IT services supporting the clinical studies; business engagement, communications, strategy, innovation, architecture and deployment, IT operations and P&L governance, and vendor management. 
 
Drove Leadership and Innovation -
• Selected to rebuild trust in IT function and services. Created several best practices including a “top 50” stakeholder model across business units resulting in improved communications, prioritization of investments, services, and customer satisfaction. 
• Collaborated with Clinical leadership to create first ever strategic plan and IT roadmap leading to improved planning of investments, acceleration of innovative technologies, and elevated patient experience.
• Delivered Medtronic’s first mobile platform accelerating direct to patient clinical research studies. The solution will improve the patient experience, reduce site burden, and ROI of $5M over three years

 Led IT Team Transformation -
• Guided transformation of operations by implementing continuous improvement initiatives increasing SLA compliance from 70% to 90+%, client satisfaction from 82% to 95%, and reducing P&L variance from 15% to 1% for $20M+ budget.
• Reengineered processes and technology to improve compliance of adverse event reporting from 75% to 96% and achieved cost savings of $6M annually. 
 
Recipient of Team Excellence Awards -
• Global Clinical Research Excellence Award in 2021, recognizing extraordinary performance and commitment to the Medtronic Mission. The Remote Monitoring Program enabled continuity of clinical research and patient monitoring through COVID 19 pandemic and reduced annual costs by $2M.  

• The Star of Excellence Award in 2018, which recognizes extraordinary job performance in Quality and Innovation. The Complaint Handling Program provided a solution to report events within FDA time parameters mitigating compliance risks and generated annual savings of $3.5M.

Divisional CIO - Clinical

Director of IT SAP Operations, responsible for IT application services supporting SAP operations associated with following business functions; Finance, Quality, Sourcing, Mfg, Supply Chain. Led organization of 150+ IT professionals providing strategy, architecture, delivery and support, innovation, data security, database and technical administration, and testing services. Reported to VP of IT.
 
Drove Leadership and Innovation -
• Rebuilt trust with business relationship manager team across functions by establishing a collaborative “OneIT” operating model. Led organization assessment to baseline processes, SLA metrics, strategy, and staff. 
• Established credibility with business by attentive engagement to understand their concerns, then soliciting input to develop future state expectations focused upon improving people, process, and technology. New framework improved planning of investments, SLA compliance, and delivery of project portfolio within budget and schedule parameters. 
• Set direction and strategy for technology roadmap and governed associated project portfolio of $20m+ annually through all phases of systems development life cycle. Co-led environment assessment and implementation of innovative model reducing the architecture from 200+ to 90 environments across 20+ modules generating $10M+ annual savings

 Led IT Team Transformation -
• Selected to lead transformation of underperforming IT Shared Services Team. Collaborated with Production Assurance and Infrastructure Operations to direct people, process, and technology initiatives reducing outages from 35+ to < 5, increasing system availability to 99%+, and improving SLA compliance from 55% to 90+%.
• Co-sponsored transition from managed services to internal delivery center model to align with CIO value proposition of IT as a quality service provider. Created staff consisting of 35+ team members within nine months spanning services related to development, security administration, Basis/DB2, and support.

Director of IT 

Responsible for design, delivery, testing and support services across functions of Human Resources, Regulatory, Sales, Marketing, and Clinical. Established the first-ever Master Data Management function in Global IT at Medtronic.

•	Standardized support operations and staffing for 30+ applications across functions. Improved SLA compliance from 75% to 92%, reduced annual costs by $1M, and improved customer satisfaction from 68% to 91% 
•	Worked closely with business leadership to create global technology solutions strategy and roadmap. Executed project portfolio to upgrade applications to current version, resume previously suspended support services from vendor, and reduce collective unplanned outages from 30+ to < 5 annually.
•	Selected to create first-ever data governance function to mitigate business risk to company. Created business case, developed staffing strategy, secured executive sponsorship, built out initial team, and facilitated vendor selection for standard MDM solution.  Resulting framework established the first-ever Master Data Management function providing formal governance across vendor, customer, and product master files.

Responsible for deploying new methodology framework to IT function, as well as accountability for application portfolio associated with functions of Supply Chain planning, Quality, Regulatory, Human Resources, and IT functions. 

•	Deployed global instance of standard HR/Payroll/Benefits platform
