From co-founding Mindfield in '05 (still going strong 18+ years later!) to co-founding & acquiring 4 diverse ventures including a Marketing Agency for the Golf industry, a pool construction biz in Kelowna, & equipment rental/retailers in Vancouver. 

Dad to my daughter & lucky husband to a Realtor Super Mom. Moved out of Vancouver in 2020 and we picked the Okanagan for family-first vibes. Future plan? Splitting time between Kelowna & Costa Rica. Also, I quit drinking alcohol –  the ultimate life hack!

2023 is in the rear view mirror and it seems there was no time wasted in the first quarter of 2024. Here we are sniffling and sneezing with the blooming of azaleas, ushering in the 7 day long weekend we call “The Masters”, which is quickly followed by a flurry of summer golf activity. 

In anticipation for the growth of Par Six Golf Media beyond just the summer flurry we’ve been busy building a talented team of individuals this past quarter. They are joining an already stacked team to help shape the future of the company and what we want to accomplish—for ourselves but more importantly for our clients. 

These Individuals are rock stars in their own right but a superpower of badasses when combined with our current starting line. I’d like to welcome Morgan MacKinnon and Ryan Scarfone to the social media team. They’ve already made an impact on our existing clients and new clients alike with their depth of social knowledge and strategy skills.  

I’d also like to welcome Matt Rhodes as our COO. Matt is a “get’s sh!t done” type of person. He’s bringing his depth of operational knowledge and experience to help shape how we function as a team so we can deliver the best possible service to our clients.

Change is in the wind my friends. We are a small but mighty team and our secret weapon is execution. This team is in the process of perfecting what execution looks and feels like and how it affects our clients objectives.

In nearly two decades of navigating the recruiting industry, I’ve encountered a myriad of technologies, systems, and innovations all promising to revolutionize the way we recruit. As we stand on the brink of AI transforming our landscape, it’s crucial to remember the fundamental goal that has endured the test of time: delivering great candidates quickly to hiring managers.

Whether part of a third-party firm or an internal corporate talent acquisition team, this singular focus should drive our strategy and choices in technology adoption. The allure of new features and complex systems is undeniable, yet the true measure of their value lies in their ability to streamline the recruitment process effectively.

In evaluating new tech or systems, ask yourself: Does it expedite the delivery of quality candidates? If the answer is no, then its utility is questionable. While time-saving apps and tools can have their benefits, the core of recruitment technology must always prioritize the efficiency and quality of candidate placement.

Perhaps this perspective seems obvious, yet in the whirlwind of constant innovation, it’s a reminder worth echoing. Strip away the noise, focus on what truly matters, and let’s redefine the essence of talent acquisition: simplicity in pursuit of excellence.
