When building out a website, you have a few options. 

You can go with the BMW option. The site that's super sexy but requires a ton of maintenance or high cost hosting plans for it to function properly. 

The toyota - get's the job done, lower maintenance. 

Or.... 

You could go with the Lexus. Same parts as a Toyota without the maintenance of a german car. 

We aim for the Lexus with our website projects. Here's the difference between them and here's how we do it. 

The BMW is the website with a bajillion animations, tons of imagery, custom embeds everywhere. 

The problem with these websites is the fact that one website update can screw it all up. 

And without the proper infrastructure, it can be SLOW. 

You will need premium hosting, a CDN (content delivery network), additional website optimizations, and most likely a comprehensive management plan for it to function properly over the long term. 

The Toyota is the website that's boring but gets the job done. These aren't bad websites but they aren't sexy. 

They are most likely to serve a business for years to come without any issues. 

The problem with websites that are super "innovative" with tons of animations and integrations is that the design is more likely to go out of date quick. 

The basic landing pages on the other hand are nearly timeless. 

Which is why you want the Lexus of websites. 

You want the reliability. You want a site that will last for years to come - not a site that needs to be replaced every 24 months. 

A design that isn't boring but elegant, professional. 

Without all the extra fluff that will bog it down and cause issues. 

Some clients want the BMW and I get it - they look amazing, but only for a year or two. 

With every client I've worked with, I've always pushed back when it becomes evident the client is going for the BMW - telling them the pros and cons of it. 

At the end of the day, we will give the client what they want, but we explain why the lexus is, in most cases, the better option. 

And getting the Lexus is something that comes with 8+ years of website dev experience.
